Prom night is one of the most anticipated nights on the teen calendar. Filled with great expectations and grand designs prom very often ends up being more of a let down than a high point. The most common reason people have bad prom experiences is due to the company they choose to keep on prom night. While the romance of prom may make it seem like a night for couples, this is not always the best scenario, nor does going as part of a group guarantee a good time. Be smart about who you go with. Volatile relationships, quasi-friendships and dying romances have no place at prom.

I never went to my high school prom either. i was 17 and living on my own so i had to pay rent and other bills first, so i couldn't afford a dress and a ticket to prom. but i wasn't too big on dances and things like that anyway so i wasn't sad about it.
i did however attend the prom party afterwards. it was at a campground so attire was casual and my friends got me into that for free.

I did enjoy my prom night. It was about 17 years ago! We did junior prom at my school. It really was the fairy tale it was supposed to be for me. That is kinda weird, because as some folks have said, prom is generally a disappointment based on what you expect. I didn't expect much at first and asked a guy I had just met who I really liked. We ended up falling for each other and by Prom, I'm pretty sure I was madly in love with him. It was fun and romantic. The after prom parties are also fun. My boyfriend had his own place, so me and a few friends went there. That's all I will tell you. I would post a pic, but I don't think he would like it! I haven't talked to him in years, but he is a very private person. :)

In the United States and Canada, a prom, short for promenade, is used to describe a formal dance held at the end of the high school academic year. In the United Kingdom the term is more widely understood to be in reference to a season of classical concerts or "proms", which have been held between July and September since 1811, today run by the BBC. The British synonym for the North American event would be Leavers Ball, or Leavers Dinner, closer to the Australian description
