Mushrooms and Cheese - An odd combination?

The other day I made stuffed mushrooms, and put cheddar cheese on top, the inside was cream cheese, spices, zucchini, onion, and pinach.
I am using up the leftover mushrooms, so I cut them up and put them in a dish, add spices, and covered them with cheddar cheese, then cooked it until the cheese was melted, and crispy.
They are so good, a little oily from the cheese and had to add some to the bottom under the mushrooms.
I was telling my friends and she just shook her head saying I eat the weirdest things.

I answered before but my connection was reset as I am mobile right now. I love mushrooms and cheese, perhaps it is your friend that is weird. I went to a cooking show this week and there was vegetable lasagna made with mushrooms and squash and all kinds of other vegetables and cottage cheese and herbs and cheddar cheese and mozzarella. It smelled heavenly.

hi GardenGerty that combo also sounds really good
and I can imagine the delicious odors while cooking
so m any times the odor of food prepares me for
something that tastes delicious. I think some of
our taste is also the odor of the cooked food.If
it smells heavenly we will reall love the taste.

As others have said, I don't think it's odd at all! We sometimes have omelettes with mushroom and cheese (among other things). And there's always mushrooms on our pizzas with cheese on it. It's almost odd that your friend thought that this combination is weird!

I dont find this weird, at all. I actually am craving for a mushroom dipped in cheese sauce right now! anything that has cheese and mushroom in it is a must try for me!

mushrooms sliced and cooked in cheese so up is extra delicious so yes mushrooms and cheese are a great combination to try in any
way you see fit.we sprinkle cheese on onion sou p amd its
really delicious.cheese and onions and cooked mushrooms in a
taco were delicious with some shredded romaine and sour cream on top,mushrooms and cheese go well in a lot of different combos.

It is not weird at all you can add cheese to almost every recipe, in fact you can get hamburgers here in Montreal with mushrooms and melted cheese.

i don't think it's odd.i mix cheese and mushrooms all the time.
you should try it with boursin garlic cheese instead of cream cheese.really yummy.

hi Ricki i do not think so as cheese goes well with most
veggies and mushrooms blend nicely with the cheese taste.
I like the combination my self, both mushrooms and cheese
are good for you too.

I like mushrooms and cheese together, although they don't go (the mushrooms) with all types of cheese. I think they go with cheddar best. Sometimes I'll have a jacket potato with mushrooms and cheese, or I'll do cheese on toast and slice a few mushrooms on top of the cheese before grilling it.

Hi,
You remind me of pizza with mushrooms, one of my favorite here. If you make it on a circular pan about a dinner plate big, then the description is more like it. But you mean spinach, the green leaves that gives it a more distinct flavor, like tomatoes or pickles.

To each their own, but I wouldn't think that was weird. I cook a lot with mushrooms and cheese in different things.
