Why is it said that there is no place for emotions in the corporate world?

hey guys, i wanted to know why people say that there is no place for emotions and relationships in the corporate world? Is it because people are blind and running after money and power or is it that they are all running to cut others throat to move ahead?
What do u think about this? Please leave your valuable thoughts!

There's bound to be complications later on.. Not unless you as a couple working in the same company set rules that clearly divide your professional and love life.
Another perception: when emotions override someone in the office, decision-making is blurred. Out of pity, a boss might decide not to suspend a subordinate even when there's a dire need to do so.. Or he might do something illegal just to return favor to a colleague..
Well we're human.. We're given emotions.. But how we handle emotions at work, that sets us aside from the rest. :) happy day!

Thanks a ton for your response. Hats off to your thinking. Yes u are right, i am claiming that everything in a corporate world should be based on feelings and emotions but then that does not mean forgetting the humanity case while working in a corporate world. Who does not want success and money but life is not about earning only money name and fame and we should understand this fact also.

yes , thats right , there is no place for emotion in corporate world .It is not only for money , but business is a seperate entity , therefore if your company survive you will survive . I find corporate way of business is more efficent however , most big corporate companies become too much dominant and that is bad for the society and general people .

Hey thanks a ton for your response. yes u are absolutely right, a company or an organization runs simply on selfish needs and not on the emotions of a person. Even if u are not well then it wont matter much for the company they might hire someone else in your place. Business is the best thing that can happen with us as there is no pressure from outside and there in it u can do whatever u want, take as much as holidays u want.

@subhojit10 Nice post to discuss but it`s slightly rude to describe it ' cut others throat to move ahead' .It is quiet obvious corporate are dependent upon the trade policies by Government , if they get good business they stay competent and hereafter content their employees as well .
Though in this world , one can`t stay so emotional on the grounds of professionalism . There are some incentives , awards that recognizes workforce for their diligence as well . Conversely , if the company does nt earns affluence that the employee would have to leave .
This is a simple equation with expected twists and turns ...
