The Bourne Legacy: A Reboot

Let's start from the very beginning, my previous discussion on this matter was a fail, sorry.
The fourth installment of the Bourne series brings us the character of Jason Bourne no longer, the American spy who was brainwashed, his true identity, David Webb, was erased, and he was eventually made to kill for a few CIA men who used the program for their vested interests, such as money and world political power. The trilogy was penned by novelist Robert Ludlum.
I am not sure, but I believe that The Bourne Legacy is a sequel penned by another author. The story is a continuation of Bourne's struggle to disengage himself from the abusers who used him, and many other ace spies, who were also brainwashed, to do the killing for these power hungry CIA men.
One of the super spies in the making was a soldier, Erin Cross, and the role was essayed by Jeremy Renner, my current favorite actor. But of course I did not just like the movie because of Renner, and the fact that the second half of the movie was shot in my country, the last chase scene, where the two protagonists finally fell off the motorbike, was shot in my city market, ha ha.
Of course, I did catch the crew and the actors, one morning during a shoot, and if Jeremy Renner can recall that lady in a white van, crazily waving at him and Rachel, Weisz, it was me.
Bourne Legacy was Bourne's lagacy. What exactly is that legacy? Well, simply put, that science couldn't totally delete the memory of man. That leaves to be seen in the next few years, as technology seem to be getting us to wider horizons, but as of today, there is that one message sent: Don't mess up with man's mind.
The movie was actually a good one. It took the viewers to the pacifying ice mountains of Alaska, the training grounds for the super spies. The snow was breathtaking. Then we subliminally focused the protagonist, presented with the pervading image of a wolf, a foreshadowing of the story, who is hunting who?
Then we were ushered to the laboratory, the necessary elimination of the researchers and scientists, the shadowy CIA programmers (literally), and the hideous problem this scheming evil men could not solve, Jason Bourne. The human spirit, that which lies in the mind, cannot be broken. Thus Erin Cross, Bourne's Legacy.
NB: To my friends who answered in my early discussion, the one that was not finished, am sorry again, my daughter is booting me out of the internet, she has conference with her class. I do hope though that I brought some points to ponder in this discussion. Do not mind the negative criticisms, I think those came from those who did not understand the story. Watch the movie, it is exciting, guaranteed. Over and out.

The Bourne Legacy was penned by Eric Van Lustbader with the permission from Robert Ludlums estate. Infact Eric has done 7 'continuation' books to the Bourne series. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Van_Lustbader#Continuation_of_The_Bourne_Series_by_Robert_Ludlum
As for the movie itself I actually quite enjoyed it. Didn't think it would be as good as the originals (rarely they are).

Thanks very much for the info on Eric Van Lustbader. I do see his Bourne novels on the bookstore racks, but I don't check out books anymore, as it is difficult to read lengthy materials for me now, and of course, I know the films are coming anyway. But there is no other pleasurable activity than reading. The Bourne Identity was a shocker for me, when I first read it, and I loved Ludlum since. Okay, now I just have to wait for Lustbader's series, I see there are more. My daughter commented, after we watched the movie, on the very first day of showing, that it is easy enough to write sequels for this Bourne movies, and she could, she said, imagine what will happen next. Hmmm, I have a plot in my mind, too, so am excited with next one.

LOL
It's always easy figuring out a plot the real difficulty in movies like these is 'connecting them.' What I mean is if you never seen a single bourne movie except for legacy then some parts would make you wonder what they were talking about. I actually own the majority of the bourne novels (both Ludlum and Lustbaders) although like yourself I haven't had the time to read them all yet. Apart from the plots connecting in some fashion though its hard to do a similar story but keep it entertaining and 'newer'.

wow..nice elaboration on the said movie..
and ofcourse..u do know The Bourne Legacy ..is NOT a reboot rite? its a continuation of the same subject but being done by another character that somewhat connected to Bourne's Threadstone project.. while renner is from another similar
Invincible spy" project by highly secretive govt agency//
Reboot..is only if the movie is a remake entirely again from the beginning..like the recent SPIDER MAN..with Andrew Garfield.. and the coming MAN OF STEEL..next year with Henry Cavill ... ;)
