I always (with very few exceptions) remember birthdays of family and friends and even my clients. I have forgotten my own birthday at least once (and yes, my husband forgot it also). I was very busy at the time and time was flying so fast. I skipped a whole year lol. For some reason I don't remember ever being asked how old I was that year. It wasn't until my next birthday that I realized I was turning 37 and not 36. I forgot to turn 36, went straight from 35 to 37 lol.

For some reason I never had to tell anyone how old I was that year. It's impossible lying about your age in Iceland, if someone knows your name they can always do a search on an online database. Our social security number is made up from our date of birth and 4 additional numbers and we seem to use that everywhere. I don't think Icelanders ever felt the need to lie about their age, women here only turn 29 once and that only lasts for one year.

hahaha that's really funny. you skipped a year, wow. you were actually a year younger then since you didn't get to be 36! thanks for sharing, really made laugh there. at least in your case, it was something unintentional :P

No, I've never forgotten my own birthday. I can't believe someone could actually do that (unless they had a medical condition, of course.)

I haven't really yet, but I can see how once you have kids, it gets harder to remember, because you're busy doing the same stuff you do everyday. I think my mom forgot this year.

While I have never forgotten my birthday,I have had my whole family forget mine.My mom ran away to get married when I was 12 on my birthday and none of us knew where she was.

It took me awhile to realize why it happened. It definately hurt at the time.Later I realized what some of the illnesses my mother had and how she tried to handle them.

No one remembered your birthday? That's sad. . but maybe because of the incident that happened that day.

Yes, I forgot my birthday and so did others. I was new in the state, was recovering from a major operation and was still in bed for part of the day when my birthday day came - and went. In my still groggy state, I wasnt aware of it. No one called, no letters or cards arrived, I knew no one who would visit. Just alone in a strange city, trying to recuperate from a very dangerous disease I had lost a few organs over. My only one local female friend was away on vacation for 2 weeks and wouldnt return for another. It wasnt until 3 days later when I could read the calendar in the kitchen that I realized I missed it.

So far, no. But then, I am only 31 years old, soon to be 32 in a few months *laugh* I think that once you get older, especially when you get to be like 70-80, it's easier to forget because less people are making a big deal out of the day or throwing you surprise parties and the like *laugh*

Maybe because the older we get, we'd rather want to forget that we're getting old. haha! Thanks
