Jobless because of my hypertension

Yes, you read it right. I have been sacked from my job because I was absent for a week due to my uncontrolled blood pressure. I feel sad because I will miss my co-workers, but I don't have any regrets over losing my job. Now why am I posting this discussion then?
It's just that the reality of our very bad labor laws have come full circle and hit me in the face again. Sure, I can sue my employer and fight my way back in. But it's not worth it. Because I would need to spend time and money hiring a lawyer just to prove my point. And since the company is an international company (BPO) they will find or have already found every loophole in our labor law and that's why they can get away with it.
So now I am sick, and jobless, and depressed. Happy mylotting folks!

I feel sorry to hear that, but no worries, there's karma for everything we do. You may be mistreated by your company now, but I'm sure you can find a better job and better company. Even though you're jobless now, but job can be found, though it's not that easy, but keep trying, being positive in all you do. You surely find a new better job.

If you are a regular employee already , anne, you can very well sue them. As to hiring a lawyer, you can go to the Public Attorney's Office. Cases such as this wherein they know that it could win, are very much welcome.
But however, first get another job. There are other BPOs. With your experience, you can surely be hired.

That's true Raine.
When you are sacked because of redundancy, you are entitled for a separation pay. Once the company didn't give it to you, you can sue them. So that's what happened to your friend.
PAO lawyers likes cases such as this, because it's a sure win for their client. Even private lawyers like this, because even if they aren't paid yet for their attorney's fee, they are sure that in the end they will be paid by their client.

I agree. A friend of a friend experience this but I think she was sacked because of redundancy. But later on, she learned that the very same post she vacated was filled up in 2 months by another employee of the company who bought her employer's company. She sued them and she let her case be handled by PAO while she goes on move on to have another job. It's been 4 years and she is currently in Singapore when she was told that she won and her former employer is going to pay her damages.
So don't lose hope. Right now, the most important thing and your priority should be your health. Try to stabilize your condition and once you have your doctor's okay, find another job that is right up your alley.

So sorry to hear that you have problems with health and became the reason behind you being sacked. I think if you are regular employee you have every right to question them about you being removed from your job just like that.
I think that would be a blessing in disguise since it is your body that is complaining about your job. I think the job and your current health situation tells you to find a job that would not be putting your health at risk. I know it is hard to find a new one especially when you have this health condition you have with you. For sure your potential employers will put you down once they know about your condition.
For now, I guess the best that you can do is to recover from your current illness. Depression cannot be avoided but it can be stopped in time.

Well, that is the reality of this government. Those politicians are busy making laws about the suppression of freedom. Instead of making amending the labor code of the Philippines, so that there is no age limit anymore...
Don't be depressed, my friend. There are many ways to make money online. I know you can succeed into this way.

Hello Anne, Oh. my GOD. I am sorry, should have read this discussion before I have commented on your second topic. you know, think of it this way, at least had a job. when you were looking for work, I was still jobless and when you lost it I was still in the same state
But definitely not amusing ont he Blood Pressure problem. It's hard to get used to the fact that you are being pressured by higher ups or customers who say bad thigns on you personally. I feel sad that they can actually get away and prevent you from going back

Sorry to hear about that. I don't know much about the labor laws in the Philippines, but if it was stipulated in your contract that you need to be perfectly fit, or at least not have hypetension, then I guess you cannot argue with them anymore. I think you're still young. Look on the brighter side of things. This could be your chance to find a better job or at least do the thjngs you missed doung while you were still employed. Also, you can always see you co-workers anytime even if you don't work in the same place anymore.

oh i am sorry to hear about this happening to you anne. are you still new to the company that you are not allowed to be absent for x no. of days because you are under probationary period? if you are then it is the company's right to not let you continue with the employment. But if your position is regular, they can't just let you go and not come to work already when you have incurred some absences because you will have your paid leaves covered.

Sorry to hear about your job but where I work if youre out sick more then a week because of an illness you can use you're FMLA and you won't get banned from you're job. But if you're doctor says you cant come back to work then that's different'. I hope you're able to find a new job or get disability payments so you can pay your bills and have some money to spend. Good luck with everything.

If you had been at the company for a while, you should have had vacation time that you could have taken. If you have already used up all of your vacation time due to health issues, it sounds as though you are not well enough to be employed.
Get your blood pressure under control and, then, seek out a new position. If you seek out another position before you have your health issues remedied, you are likely for this scenario to play out again.

One at a time, I think first thing you have to do is get well first and regain you strength, there's nothing much we can do if we are not healthy, you can't go on any campaign with a bad condition that might further be aggravated. I'm an optimistic person and I believe there's something better coming your way but again concentrate on getting well first

Yeah. Those call centers really demand a lot from you even though you have already sacrificed your health too much.
It's better if you can get dayjobs instead of night shifts.

Hi friend, sad to hear about this, it is really hard to fight against a BPO company if it is a MNC, better to keep distance from it and find another good job for you, wish you to get a good job in the near soon

I am so sorry for what you are going threw. It is not fair that big companies can do this knowing that the worker can't afford to fight them for doing this to people so they get by with it. People work for a company and it becomes their home away from home not just a paycheck. It can be a type of family feeling with coworkers. I hope your depression and sadness can fade away soon.

BPO is not for you, anne25penn, with that kind of health conditions. BPO means Blood Pressure Overdosing hahahaha
Cheer up anne25penn! You are not the only one with those kind of miseries in the field of BPO with those kind of health conditions. I have friends with the same ailments you have, and they are out of BPO. Because it is not the right job for those kind of health conditions. A lot of pressured stress (physical and emotional), overtime, fatigue, less sleep or rest, etc. these are the killers. You have to give thanks and forgive your employer. And give them the God's blessing for giving you more life to live, and move on. God has more good and better plans for you.
In the time of your depression, it is the best time to know more of yourself and to have more time communicating with God, personally. So, always have a simple way of healthy lifestyle, pray and meditate. So, always be happy, healthier, and tender loving care together with your family and friends.

Think of it this way: Being kicked out from your current job is an opportunity to get better things in your life. You may feel down right now but if you see this as an opportunity and is sure about it, you usually end up in a better place than before. "Don't let this bring you down as you can shine far brighter than you are now". This is an opportunity to search for a better way of life. It's an opportunity to refocus on your goals and remember the reason why you're working at all.
Don't be afraid for losing your job, this is a world of potential. Lose your job for gaining something better. And you're going to do it right now, I'm sure.
