I grew up in Cavite. It is a province just 30 kilometers away from Manila, the capital of the Philippines. My parents are both from Visayas Island.Mom is from Iloilo and Pap is from Romblon (I haven't been to Romblon). I consider my mom's province as my hometown event though I wasn't born and raised there because most of our relatives live there. I feel very much at home there. I breathe fresh air,eat fresh food and enjoy the simplicity of country life which is a far cry from my lifestyle in Cavite. Though Cavite is a province life is very much city like. Most of all, I look forward to the warmth and tenderness of the people there especially my relatives, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

You are correct there friend that Cavite has many urbanized places as it is near Manila. Not like the provinces of your parents which has a slow pace of development, and the folks there are sleeps early and wakes up early, too. When you go there, surely you could meet your long
time friends and relatives. The lifestyle there is very quiet, yet peaceful and out of so much
luxuries, and most of all we are eating freshly catch fishes, and enjoy the freshness of the air we breath. No pollution,no noisy horns from the vehicles,no soaring garbage files. You could only hear the carabaos, the goats, and chickens are roaming around. You could watch clearly the moon, the stars, and the frogs are croaking, the fireflies are in the bushes, and the crickets are whistling. That is my home province is all about.I am already homesick to think about this especially the white sand beaches and my former classmates and friends. Is that also what you could expect upon sitting your foot there?I hope you have a nice vacation.

Our lechon baboy was voted the best in the whole country because its very tasty, the fats was really soak out,and the whole pig was home grown not feed with ready mix poultry feeds.I am from Cebu and we have lots of white sand beaches.I missed it all because my mother was here with me,and she was the only reason why we all go home every year to visit our home province.
I crave to eat our famous otap. The Masareal,a product made from steam peanuts that was ground
and mixed with flour and baked to become solid.it is very delicious delicacy only found in Cebu.So was the hanging rice, only found in our wet market, with the ready viand of freshly fried baby shrimp condiments,or the small tasty sausage.I also wish to eat the sea shells in our sea shores, when cooked into a soup the color of the soup is like the light version of coffee yet the aroma was different which is determined coming from the sea.I really missed my province.

I miss the roaming chickens, too. I don't eat native chickens lols. Whenever we go there, my aunt would cook native chicken from her poultry.Last year, my cousin prepared homegrown lechon but waaaaaaaaaahhh. I could not eat them. It was like , I saw the chicken running around yesterday and now it is on the table.

You make me salivate. Masareal and hanging rice sound pretty interesting. So far, the only edible product I have ever eaten from Cebu was the famous "danggit". I haven't been to Cebu but I have heard a lot of good things about this province.

Same here! I look forward to seeing my nieces, brother and sister-in-law. I also look forward to just reminiscing the past when I roam around our little farm. I also look forward to the cool, crisp climate!

Cool! For me it's the smell of pine trees and freshly cut grass. Ah... home :) They say home is where the heart is. I am guessing that I left my heart back there...

Like you, I am more at home with my relatives from my mom's side who are from Aklan. I am much closer to my cousins from Aklan than my cousins from my dad's side. Usually, during my younger years, I look forward to go biking coz that is where I learned to ride the bike. I feel safer riding there than here in Manila.

Oh you ought to go to your hometown, Romblon, if you haven't been there at all. It's time that you get to know you father's other relatives too, my friend.
Indeed, going back to our hometowns can really be exciting. It makes us reminisce those days when we were just kids, playing with other kids in the fields or at a friend's lawn.
It's really good to have our what we call hometown. When we feel so strangled by the city life, we unwind at our hometowns.

I would love to go there! But, I guess we have to stay in a hotel. Sadly, my dad's property and parcel of land which he inherited from his parents were arrogated by his relatives. His house, that is made of mahony wood, was demolished by his nieces and nephews. My dad has never gotten any profits from his land produce since he left the province when he was orphaned at an early age. He went to Manila to support his own education. He graduated from college, found a job and settled down with my mom.
When I was in elementary, I rummaged my dad's luggage, out of curiosity, because he keeps his memorabilias there.I just wanted to look at his old pictures. I didn't expect that I would find a letter there from one of his relatives. I read that they had demolished my dad's house before they informed him. So, if ever we go there, there'll no more place for us to stay.

Oh that's sad.
I think your dad has the right to go there and stay at their places, because after all it's his inherited lot.
The relatives should have the decency to accommodate him, whenever he wishes to visit the place.

I am pretty excited because I want to see the new things in the province. I've heard a lot from the news that my hometown is already prospering. I want to see the new buildings and new roads. I also want to get in touch with my friends and family. It's been quite long since I gone home.

Vigan has a lot of beautiful historical places. I've seen them on local travel programs. I've only eaten Pancit Cabagan I think it's a native Ilocos style pancit.

i live very far from Romblon and both of my parents are gone. i have a lot of relatives there but we are not really that close. we communicate most of the time via FB.

Every time I visit my hometown and birthplace in Palew, Tublay, Benguet, I see every improvement from road to other infrastructure that stands there. The CP signal is good and there are satellite TV discs I see almost
every after three blocks and about twenty percent of this Igorot Village of ours own automobiles. Most are vegetable farmers and others own gold tunnels. This place is about 30 kilometers from Baguio City...

Well I love to take vacation to my mom's province once in a while since I am working and busy at the same time.
What I always like when going in the province is the peaceful environment unlike in the city that is too noisy. The fresh and foods that I am always craving to eat. Province is really quite far than here in the city so I always enjoy and having fun everytime I visit my mom's province.

They say there is no place like home and this is so true. When I go back home I like the little things like going out for a meal with my parents or visiting the local shops and bars. It's also nice to spend some time with my friends so I do love home.

Hi there! Good question! Well, I am actually from the Central Visayas and I live in a peaceful hometown called Bogo. It is a 100km from Cebu City. It is just a small town (although it's now called Bogo City) where most people know one another. The population is small and commensurate to its size. When I go to other places, I always look forward to going home because of several things. One, my whole family lives there and it's always a joy to see them and talk to them. Two, I love the fresh air there and the warmth of the people whom I consider friends. Three, I love spending time hanging out with my friends there and it's always a delight to spend time with them. Four, I always go biking with my dad and it is always fun. He and I both share the same hobby. And fifth, I love the relaxed atmosphere and lovely environment of the place I call home. That's all. Keep asking interesting questions!

The food, the people. The lifestyle and the fun things that I do with my friends and families. The bonding with the people that I love, you know how their lives went when I was away for some months or maybe even years and stuff like that. We cook food, go to different places visit some more friends. Those are the things I look forward to. Goodluck with your home coming:D

We're almost the same. I grew up in Manila, both my parents are from Batangas. And I consider Batangas as my hometown because all of our family hails and lives from there. Although traveling from Manila to Batangas is a mere 2 hours by car, I can say that Batangas remained its suburban setting which I so love. It's got the proper shops and amenities like in Manila for the basic needs, yet it's so green and the air is so fresh that you wouldn't miss all the fumes of the city.
I love what the city has to offer, education, lots of hospitals, government offices, malls. But I still prefer the peace and quiet of the province. I don't like living in cramped apartments and flats. I prefer to have a proper backyard and a proper garden.
