Why Ladies carry hand bag

Men have pockets in their trousers and most men don't wear lipstick

The first and foremost necessity for a woman to carry a bag is for cosmetics. Secondly, when she goes for shopping she carries a bag to put all the expensive purchased items in her bag like jewellery items etc. Thirdly, while going on a function, party or exhibition she carries her bag, may be just to flaunt her style statement among her friends. There is a saying that, "A whole world rests in a woman's handbag". It is very true. Sometimes we over stuff our bag with so many unnecessary items that it gets difficult to find the most needed thing at the time of need.

I think that most men don't carry a handbag because they are able to keep their things in their pockets. Most of the men that I know only carry their keys, their wallet and their cellphone and it is possible to carry those things in their pockets. Women carry a lot of other things In my handbag there are a my wallet, my keys, my cellphone, my calendar, a notebook, different pens, a mirror, a pair of tweezers, some make-up, candy, painkillers and lots of other things and it would be impossible to carry all of those things in my pockets so I need a handbag.

Women have used pocketbooks forever. They need to carry makeup, tissue, money, keys, etc.... Where men only have to carry money and credit cards. I have always used a pocketbook all my life. It was not until moving to Puerto Rico that I will on most occasions just carry my debit card in my pants pocket. Now if I'm going on a road trip where I will be gone all day I will then bring my pocketbook. It will carry my wallet, keys, tissue, makeup and a bottle of water.

I think it becomes habitual for ladies. Ladies (some of them) cannot feel comfortable without their handbags. They must atleast carry a purse or something to keep their hands occupied. But I don't know what do they really carry inside. My girl mostly don't carry handbags but carry a purse. I just use my back pocket to keep my wallet with all the ID stuffs and credit cards and etc. Nice discussion though. Have a great weekend.

First of all it is a fashion thing. Then women carry around all shorts of useless stuff. Men are practical, less is better.

I think ladies carry handbags to put things in the handbags and also to give a good impression. I think there would be a good impression for the ladies when they carry handbags. I think gents have pocket and they do not carry lots of things with them. Ladies also carry makeup things in their handbags.

I don't know why ladies carry purses but gents don't. A purse can be pretty troublesome to carry around but it's also pretty handy. We have to carry so many things with us when we go out that it's nice to have a purse. Cellphones, wallets, tissues, documents, etc. I guess it depends on the person whether they want to carry a bag although culturally women carry the bag.

Reason number one that ladies carry purses and men don't is that ladies don't usually have pockets in their dresses. Even if they did, putting keys, billfold, and Kleenex (the barest of necessities)in them would ruin the line of her dress. Reason #2 is that ladies usually have to carry some make-up and other necessities in their purse. Reason #3 is that they have to have some place to carry the stuff their spouses want but don't have room for in their pockets. I carry a paperback book in my purse to have something to read when waiting anywhere.

My hand bag is very important to me in it I carry every thing I need for the day or the week!lets put it this way I carry every thing but the kitchen sink!

It's just become an acceptable accessory over time. Sometimes I wonder why the bags have to be so huge when there isn't really a need for it.

I got use to carrying a handbag/purse after having children. When you have little children you carry a diaper bag to hold diapers, clothes, baby food, bibs, diaper wipes, baby toys, baby blanket and other such things for the child. Then I would put my I.D. in with it. Then the children grow up and you have no need for a diaper bag, but you still need some thing to carry your I.D., pens and paper, calculator, make up and things that your husband may find like screws, nuts and bolts or even a screw driver that he can't put in his wallet that he carries in his back pocket.

That's why Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus. I always carry my hand bag with me because I cannot live without my comb powder and lipstick,:). That's the way it is and ladies will always be ladies, in a man's world you only bring handkerchief with you and you have the pocket..:D.

Co's that is where they put all the personal stuff, such as; cellphone, wallet, makeup, comb and a lot more, while the guys just needed their pocket to put their wallet and cellphone, they don't bring extra stuff. hahaha. Hubby and I would argue a lot when we are going out together and will only bring his backpack. it bogs him when I put more stuff. Well, I just told him every time... that I'm a girl ans he's a boy and he would never understand me. hahaha

hi yugasini now wo uldn't we women look silly tryng tol stuff all the things we use daily into one or two pockets in our clothesso yes we carry a bag,me I use a shoulder bag myself.women have more thing they need to use every day versus men and we also try to look good for you men too.this means we keep some cosmetics in our handbags too.I have seen some modern men carrying shoulder bags of some sort so what is that? lol

I don't understand how men can go out without taking a bag. My partner is diabetic and that means that he has to carry a lot of things around with him, yet he will only ever take things in his pockets. I always say to him that he should get a small bag as it would be a heck of a lot easier for him to fit all of his things in, but for some reason it just isn't something that he seems to be keen on. I take lots of things out with me, and wouldn't be able to take all of them if I didn't have my handbag to put them in, so I always make sure that I have a relatively big bag.

They carry handbag to show femininity or showing that they are female and different from male. Because they carry more things which for personal hygiene...

ladies need many things with them. didn't you notice that if you go on a trip a lady would have many more luggages than a gent. when I was younger I didn't like wearing hand bags either,,,but as I grew up I started seeing the use of it. it's true that we might carry many unusefull things but I for example use a handbag to go to college and I carry my books in it, along with my wallet, cellphone etc.

Most of the ladies used to carry cosmetics items like powder,lipstick,mirror ,creams and other times with them all the time. I had just seen the same cosmetics items in most of my friends bag. Even my elder sisters and my cousins used to do the same. They feel hand bags are much comfortable to carry them and along with they can carry other items with them.

not all ladies like to carry a hand bag, and i am one of them, i mostly carry on a small purse, or if my dress have pockets ,i don't carry the purse even, but if i need to carry too much stuff then , i have to carry a hand bag which is unavoidable.
