$5+ in TWO years. How does it sound?

Today, almost after 25 months, I reached payout on a site, which is INR 300 (just over $5)
The site is mGinger, a 'paid to read SMS' site. I signed up, verified my mobile and that's it. From time to time I received few Short text messages and I deleted them after reading. It's for Indians only.
Many people may think it's not worth to sign up. My perspective would also be the same, if I had anything to 'work' on the site. I just received few SMSes (like I do from unknown spammers) which doesn't involve any 'work'.
Someone said it a 'scam' too. He is a reputed member of mylot and he said that he didn't receive his payout after request. (Though I received one payout earlier, I'm yet to know their present status.) If I'm not paid this time, I would call them 'scam' too.
Though their earning part is so weak, I consider their 'deals' are fantastic. 3 formal cotton shirts for just $6 OR 3 T-shirts for $6 - really sound awesome deal for me.
Would you consider joining such a site?

I am member of mginger from last 3 years, I have 55 referrals and balance of Rs.130. I would wait for the payout for sure.
I think these sites are way too far ahead of time , in future these sort of sites would be more beneficial.

If it is genuine I will be happy to join. I had been lots of scams in the past. If they did really paid I think lots of people will be happy to join.

At present I can't vouch for it. Though I have been paid in the past by this site, one of my friends here in MyLot told that he didn't get paid. So, I have to confirm again whether they continue to pay.
I'll post here an update if I get paid.

Well, that's great. That's better than receiving nothing. I guess it involved little to nothing in efforts, so there's nothing to lose on your part. But for people who are thinking of joining such kind of site to make big bucks, I think it's not the site for them. There are sites out there who can give much better amount.

On the FAQ, they mentioned that a member would receive up to 10 messages only. (I mean, they sounded that they have lot of SMSes to send, but they would limit it to 10 per member.) So, I thought I would get 10 messages consistently daily. Adding the referral income, I thought it would be a fair amount. But at last, I just realized that I get just 1 or 2 messages randomly.
Yet, I don't regret because there is nothing I have to work. I get the SMS, read it and just delete it. I get lot of junk messages from many unknown marketers. At least, mGinger pays me for the same.

hi venky
heck! I never knew that this site existed and I always got upset when I recieved emails from some place called mginger. Maybe some of my students put my phone number on that site.
Anyways, that went off discussion.
I must say that you have tonnes of patience. Waiting for a payout of USD 5 for 25 months is not that easy and I am certain I would have given it up ages back. Also what amuses me is the fact that such sites which pay so slow still exist.
I wish you get paid this time and it is not a scam.

Hi Sidhu,
Definitely you should check their deals. Some deals are really attractive, though their earnings is nothing. Previously they had Dining coupons redeemable from our earnings, but now it's gone. If they had it now, I would have redeemed my earnings for some fun with family.
I forgot the site for about 6 or 8 months and suddenly I remembered it. When I checked my earnings, OMG, I was at 240, just Rs.30 in the whole 8 months. [em]rofl]/em] From then on I'm checking it once a while and now I requested payout.

The site might have not harmed you so far, but you expose yourself to a danger of viral infection to your computer even by opening and reading such messages for a negligible amount. Online money is a myth, forget about it. Concentrate on what you love to do. That is the essence of my experience of over half a decade.

I didn't expect it would take so long time. The home page of the website was so professionally designed that it made me think that it had good potential.
Regarding getting infected, the site sends only SMS to our mobile.
And yes, online money looks like a Golden Deer. When we run chasing it, it's not there. And when we realize it, the damage is already done. I mean, the time we waste looking for it.

Since this deal is only for Indians, I do not consider to join even.
To earn $5.00 plus for two years is totally not worth at all.
I prefer to concentrate in something very much better than this deal.
Since you have already started, you should not quit half way until you collect your payment.
However, if you consider this earning as a supplementary earning for you, of course it should be acceptable too.

Yes. If we depend on the SMS only, it's very slow. I referred around 150+ members, so I got INR 2 referral bonus for each. You may know, we get 50% from their earnings. That's how my income grew.
I remember I joined in 2007. In 5 years, I earned just INR 600, even after referring 150+ people.

Hi I am also a member there. But I do not get SMSes frequently. I get only one or two in a week's time. I have stopped opening their messages. I don't need 300rs for opening their messages for 2 years. Instead I can earn this 300rs within one day if I concentrate in some good paying sites. I am presently working in some 4 sites and earning averagely 100rs per day.

Well first of all for all that paitence and dedication that you should to such slow earning site like mginger. Next I am a member of what it is called mginger for about 3 years or so and I haven't recived as much mails or sms's for what you may have recieved. So I decided to quit early and I am now not a member of that site and I am not willing to join it again after reading your success story.

I joined MGinger 5 years back and i have collected once payout from them. The number that I used to sign-in in MGinger is currently with my dad. I doubt if he reads the SMS or simply deletes them after the inbox is full.
Indeed the site send few very good offers, earlier I used to avail few of the offer. But since Flipkart and Snapdeal became popular I stopped using MGinger offers.
