Of course you can use desktop computers. There are times when I think they're more convenient.

I use a desktop and don't own a laptop or even a smart phone that is internet capable. I think working on the computer is for my desk. When I am away from my desk I should be doing other things, enjoying life, taking a break from work and from the internet. Laptops are fine for people who want to work away from the office, can't bear to be off the internet or people who are trying to save energy but I like my desktop. It allows me to separate my work from my life.

I agree (having only a desktop myself), but--playing Devil's Advocate for a second--I can tell you that Laptops are in HIGHER DEMAND---that Desktops are 'the horse-&-buggy' to 'the automobile' of Laptops.

I personally feel that desktop is for work at office/home and laptop is for work at home and everywhere. But both have pros and cons. Some may feel comfortable in desktops and some may fee comforatable with their laptops. I use both and I feel comefortable in laptops. It has everything from keyboard, mouse(touchpad) in one. But we need to have a separate arrangements for desktops.
Nowadays I use iPad as it is more simpler than laptops.

Even though laptop is more favorite to majority of population, I still have my desktop at home though. Nonetheless, I think desktop is much more powerful than laptop in processing, and I can do a lot of burning and installation with it. With laptop, it is convenient, but I seems less likely use it though.

Hi,
I can build my own system unit desktop from the bottoms up by buying the components separately, assemble them and installing the OS and applications. I can't do that with the laptop, given similar price and performance. Most of the time, the desktop I build surpasses the laptop in performance at the same price.
If I can have USD300 to buy a 2GB RAM, 2.6GHz, 256 VRAM, 500G HDD laptop, I can also build a system unit at the same amount with 8GB RAM, 3GHz processor, 1TB HDD and 1GB VRAM with lots to spare to buy a printer and a computer table. The choice is obvious.

Computer desktop is cheaper than laptop. And you can get better specs with cheaper rate as well.
Laptop era, huh?
Okay, maybe mobile and small devices are kinda hype nowadays. But believe me, some things are more convenient and easier to be done with larger devices..

It's all a matter of preference, as in what suits you best. There are pros and cons for both laptops and desktops, but still, whichever one suits you best is up to you.
However, i've selected a third option.
I used to have a laptop called the Acer Aspire One up until 2009 when I accidentally dropped my laptop on the wall side of my bed, breaking my glass LCD screen. It looked like Freddy Kruger ripped the upper left side of my screen and it strangely gave me not only a shuddering feeling, but looking at it made me itch. There wasn't a replacement LCD screen to replace the broken one, so I had to sadly recycle it.
In it's place I bought what's called a "Nettop", a smaller version of a desktop, but with the size of a laptop. It's also from Acer called the Acer Aspire Revo, and the other thing I needed to get is an LCD screen that comes in its own box and it's portable. The good news is that I don't have to worry about dropping it on the side of the bed because it has VGA, meaning that it works with CRT, boxy television-like monitors.
In my case, a Nettop is more like a third option that i'm still using even as I type this response. It's smaller than a regular big desktop, and has a size of a laptop so it's portable. I don't see much of the nettops lately so what I have is more of a rare computer.

We have a laptop computer that we will use when we are traveling away from home, but when we are at home, we actually tend to use our desktops all of the time. There are many reasons that I prefer using the desktop as opposed to the laptop. The main reason that I prefer to use the desktop is that I find it to be more ergonomically comfortable. In addition to that, there are not the same kinds of limits on the peripherals that you can use when using a desktop while there are a relatively limited number of usb ports on a laptop computer.

For me, I'm comfortable with both desktop and laptop. I work with both. But when it comes to preference, I think laptop would be more easy to work than a desktop.

Although we have a netbook, a tab, and an iPad at home, we still use our desktop. My sister works as a medical transcriptionist and she funds it easier to use the desktop. She's thinking of buying a laptop so she can work even when she on a holiday vacation, but not really to replace her desktop. As for me, I find it hard to type using a laptop.

I have both. Laptop and desktop are just the same, It only differs in What when and where to use it.
I use desktop to play games and or any long hours of projects.
I use laptop outdoors. I cant use laptop for long straight hours or it might damage the main board.
Desktop are much easy to repair and parts are easy to replace. Laptops are handy but You cannot use or bring your desktop while having a break on a cafe.
Desktops are heavy duty and all parts are upgradeable.
It just depends on a person what to use or what to buy.

I have both a laptop and desktop computer, and would not wish to be without either. I have heard many people claiming that one is better than the other and for various reasons, but I consider both to have their own values.
My laptop is very useful if I wish to use it elsewhere, which even includes taking it with me on holiday. This way I can watch a film or check emails from anywhere on the planet, with obvious exceptions of remote areas.
As for the desktop, it is far easier to upgrade a desktop which allows me to constantly improve the configuration without the need to buy a totally new system.
Many people will always have a preference for one, but they will both be around for a long while.

I have both laptop and desktop. But at home I much prefer to use my desktop instead my laptop. I think desktop is better for me cause I have wide screen monitor and quite a good 500mb graphic card and 2G RAM. I can surf and play games very smoothly with my desktop. When only I'm travelling I will use my laptop. It's not practical to bring my desktop when going back to my home town. I don't really like to use my laptop cause it speed limited. I use to open more than 20 web pages when surfing the internet, so, my laptop doesn't good enough to support my surfing activities.

Yes, desktops tend to be much more powerful than laptops. It's a lot harder to do gaming on a laptop. Plus, I think people who are really into sound technology or image programs like photoshop tend to use desktops too. I use a desktop that I built last December. Also, I think desktops are a lot more durable. Laptops tend to degrade with time because of how much they are moved and just because of heat.

I don't own a laptop, so use desktop. I went to visit of friend of mine a few years ago, and used her laptop. I didn't like it because of the key pad. I guess I could get used to it, but with the desktop, I have all my papers and everything right at hand. With a laptop, I would have to carry everything around or not have something I wanted. I am disabled, so to get up to get something is a chore for me. A laptop would be good for some things because it could be used from anywhere, but I prefer the desktop.

I am not in favour of upgrading for the sake of upgrading. Everyday something or the other gets upgraded. As long as one is comfortable with whatever one has there is no need to upgrade. I have a desk top computer and I am fully satisfied with it. I don't need a laptop as I do not need my computer to go wherever I go.
