Why people does not use their own photos are Avatars?

I fear the misuse of photos on the internet and this is the sole reason for not uploading my picture. I haven't uploaded my pic anywhere on the internet whether it be orkut, facebook, or as an avatar on any forum site. I like using flower pic as my avatar, though I haven't used any here. I agree that our photo is our identity proof, but what's the sense of proving your identity at the cost of it being misused.

From the safety angle putting one's own image is discouraged. Morphing is the first thing that comes to mind.

Well I've never wanted to use a photo of me because I don't like my face. lol, actually it's kind of a combination of things. I don't really want to completely lose my anonymous mask. I don't want people to judge me because of how I look, or God-forbid recognize me in public. And I don't like my face. So my avatar is a butterfly on an arm. It's not even my arm! It's my sister's. lol Maybe one day in the future I'd use a picture of me, but at the moment I doubt it.

hello yugasini, the first picture avatar i have is that of a tigress which eventually was changed to my own picture. then there were comments that they prefer seeing my picture hence the picture is seen. i do not claim being attractive, not even photogenic. although there was another picture am trying to find to replace the old one. but you know what? i would also like to see the real person i am interacting with. there is nothing wrong with being unattractive or plain in the picture. the face is etched in the memory and ones you see it, you get to have a name for it. right? like i see u as a very smart baby because thats what u place there. though i really want to see another face belonging to you. ann

Because it is not the regulation here that we have to use our pictures as the avatars. That is the reason why we use just about any picture to be our avatar - some don't even need one. As for the choice of avatars, different tastes and ideas, even classes, determine the selection. No good, no bad. Just a picture.

Hi friend, there is nothing wrong in sharing our real photo if it is necessary, otherwise it is individual wish to share their photo or not. I shared my real photo in some sites which requires it, apart from them i am using some flowers as my profile image. I am not interested in using other persons image in my profile, so i use flower as my image

I think some people are afraid to use avatar pictures of their own pictures. Some people they think of using the avatars of different characters like that of film. I think one reason is that most probably they put things they admire on the avatars.

I chose based on what I felt more comfortable with . I am also very private person , I also chose a picture that represent me well . Yes we all choose all sort of tings just show how unique we are lol I have not seen anyone with the same avatar so far .

They don't use their own photos because we all knew how much Pictures Misuse on the universe of web, Anyway, I still use My picture on mylot because its My favorite forum, have a nice day.

Hello Yugasini, because in mylot, every one has the right to be anonymous no matter how sickening it maybe. back in the past, they were some users who would use your own personal photo as a way to scam others. that has been discuss before, and i have upload my own personal pics but didn't stay permanent. you have to understand that there's some people out there who can pretend to be you.

Hi Yugasini I always had my own photo as my avatar. Of course, I did go about changing it from time to time and mostly to reflect my mood. Last Chirstmas I was in a Snowman avatar. Then reverted back to me. Then a few days back it was Uncle Fester and today it is Casper. I dont have any issues with showing my own face as my avatar. Just a change sometimes to keep things exciting.

hi, for me i think they don't like to show the real them or there face here that is why they used different photos as there avatar,but for me i would love to put my real picture as my avatar so that the people who will be connected to me will see my real face.

Hi yugasini! I had my real picture when I started with myLot but I just removed it lately for personal reason. I decided to remove it first during the time I was on the training and I am planning to use my real picture after I have completed all my requirements.

I would assume that most people simply do not think about it. It has never occurred to me to use my own photograph, but I would have no problem with my picture being available at Mylot. It has been a long tradition for members of online sites to use abstract images or animations, sometimes based on their interests but mostly just something that they like. I have used quite a few different ones so far, but none have been a photograph of myself.
