Hi Mylotter!
I was shock to read in Yahoo news about one woman married one guy and later on she can marry with the younger or older brother of her husband and stay together in one roof. In some cases, the wife will has to raise the younger brother and then marry him when he adult. It's their culture and they said it gives benefit to the woman. The brothers will take turn to have bed with the wife. In the daylight, the brothers will split up the duties, one will look after the housekeeping, one will work in the market and one will work with the wife in the field. The kids from the marriage will call the first husband as husband and the others as "uncle dad". This tradition is practice in Nepal till now.
I have a lot things questioning in my mind right now. What you say Mylotter?

This comes as a surprise to me. Though I have heard about it before but I thought this is just a rumor. Now I see some people actually practice it and want to continue with it. What I am not able to understand is that usually we have the population of women and men in balance somehow. Now if a woman get married to 2 or more guys, and if that becomes a practice, we are going to have lot more women who will not find a male to get married with.

Yes, you have make me realise one important fact which is our population currently not balance, in my country, we have more women than a man, in some big city, the ratio between woman to man are 20+:1. Luckily this practice not use in my country, otherwise, there will be more woman cannot get a partner. Well, I see this culture has more weakness than advantage.

Yes, in my country polygamy is allowed, but not in every state. Though it's allowed and we can manage to make it happen, but it's difficult to get agreement from the first wife. Unless the first is really a religion woman, then only we can do that. Most of the woman willing to be abandoned and work to survive rather than polygamy. That's what happen in my country.

They won't know. But the kids will call the first husband as dad and the rest husband as "uncle dad". I wonder if the rest of the brother won't have a feeling to have a kid that call him dad not "uncle dad". For me, I want to have my kids call me dad. I want to have my own flesh blood in my kids.
As I said earlier, the girls in that village like this tradition, they said it gives them security especially if the first husband pass away. Then they still have someone to rely on to continue her life and the kids.

From what I read, the people at that village still willing to continue that tradition especially the girl. They said, they prefer that way cause they will control all of the brothers who will make money for the family and give the money to her. So, she take control the major part of the family income as it's quite hard to get good job and and money in that area.

Wikipedia defines Polyandry as a form of marriage in which a woman takes two or more husbands at the same time. This type of marriage is prohibited by most religions and illegal in many countries.
You are referring a form of Polyandry known as fraternal polyandry, wherein the women is married to two or more brothers.
Polyandry is still a common practice in Tibet, and continue to a lesser extent today.
It also exist among minorities in India,Bhutan and Northern part of Nepal.

So many religion prohibited this practice? What do you think could be the reason if you can think about it. My part I really can't think about this cause it looks very weird to me but just can't believe it there are people practicing it and like to do it.

That's very uncommon, polyandry is pretty much unusual as custom. Although I agree that we must respect other's custom. Although I have read that it's a custom in India which has been fading now.

Honestly, though I use to watch bollywood movie, I never seen they show this culture in their movie and I never know that Indian was using it once before. But I aware that when one guy married to a woman, that guy will have responsibility to look after his sister in law future husband when there the family head is no more around.
