Do your customers or clients say anything funny, annoying, or strange where you work? For instance if you work in at a drive thru do your customers ask for their food to go?
I work in a bank. When I ask people if there's anything else I can help them with, I've had many people respond with "Not unless you're giving out free samples". I thought that was clever the first time I heard it. I've also had people say "Oh sure, you can give me $1,000,000" or other such things. Those aren't funny and I never really know how to respond. I just chuckle out of politeness.
What sorts of things have you heard where you work?

They are trying to be cute but just look stupid as far as i'm concerned. My pet opeeve w/my customers was when they would say 'if i had your money, yada, yada. That always ticked me off big time. Her i was working like a turk trying to make a living for my sons & i, paying for a house, groceries etc. & WHERE IN THE DEVIL DID THEY THINK I HAD ANY MONEY?????

I actually had a customer tell me I didn't need to have my job based on the jewelry I was wearing and that I should give my job to someone who really needs it! Can you believe it?

Well my client tells me every morning that he is not going to eat and he is not going to take his meds. I tell him that is okay and he always eats and he always takes his meds and it is not funny, but it is predictable. Yeah, my husband always asks for a pound of twenty dollar bills. It was only funny the first time.

I also have regular customers who always say the same things. I greet every customer with "How are you today?" and many have the same response. Many will say "I'm terrible" but they say it with a smile on their face. I also don't think it's funny at all.. but chuckle out of politeness. I guess they don't realize that it gets old after the first time.

I hear alot of that kind of thing too and after a while it gets wearing...like not funny anymore! I wonder if people all think its their great imagination working or if they realize we have probably heard stuff like this a thousand times....Like one of my coworkers said once...there's 10,000 comdeians out of work yet everyone thinks their funny. One thing I have heard before in fact one of my friends has said it when we have went out to eat...if there is a tip laying on the table they have said.....look they are paying us to sit here...that is so old! LOL

When I worked at the hospital, it wasn't so much the funny things that our patients said, it was more the very strange things that our patients would be doing. For example, there was one time that we had to give one of the patient's a groin prep (groin shave) because he was going to be having a surgery the following morning. Well, my co-worker and I went in to do the groin prep and we couldn't do it at that time because he had his hands full (if you know what I mean) at that moment. We had to wait for him to finish before we could get the groin prep done. It did result in thirty minutes of overtime for us, but it is a memory that I would much rather forget.

I don't know if I can classify this as funny, but we've had a lot of stress with one of our customers recently. They called in to complain about a job we did. They said that the part we did for them was short after they cut them.
What?!
I could here my colleague on the other desk asking the person on the phone, have you heard yourself asking the question?
Of course it was short after they cut it.
It was funny, but not so much for us because we had to re-do their job.

Yeah.. some people do say the darndest things.
We have one particular customer who comes in once a month to cash his disability check. He's obviously got a mental handicap, so it's not really fair to think it's funny, but he always asks for "Legal US currency" as if we'd give him Monopoly money or something.

At my part - time job, some customers always joke with me, if you let me have the extra large of something, he/she will be more pleasure than ever. Or if this order to go is free. I knew they were just kidding, but I just pretend to laugh along with them. Sometimes, I don't really know their intended meanings of whatever they said, but I knew that they are customers, they can say whatever they want.

I also work in a bank. People love me there. The most embarrassing thing they ask is whether I am married. The question itself is not embarrassing, but then when I reply in negative, they at once go into discussions regarding my marriage. Some of them are even enthusiastic enough to offer to search for a bride for me. I know it sounds kinda cute, but in a situation like this, I just don't know what to say.
Though we have branches all over India, but as an officer you may have to go anywhere. Now India is a vast country with a notable linguistic variations. The place I am working now, is quite far away from my home. They speak a language that I don't know. But I am learning it. I have picked up a few words and using them randomly on a regular basis. This amuses my customers. As a result they want to speak to me more. Sometimes they will just admire my effort and say, "You're improving quite fast" and then they will leave. They always say funny things to encourage me in some way.
I am being the youngest officer in my branch, people are always attracted to me. Especially old people are very fond of me.
Some of the customers are annoying though. They will brag about the same thing again and again. Sometimes the language issue prevents me from explaining things properly. I say something, and they understand something else. Then they go on doing the same thing over and over again. Then again I explain to them, this time in a different language and with a lot of gesticulations. The whole affair, when I think of it later on, makes me smile.

When I ask "Can I get you anything else" and they say a million dollars, I reply "let me go get the monopoly money and say you didn't say a million real dollars". Or if they ask for the winning lottery numbers I just randomly recite some numbers.
