Is it bad habit to expand the nail?

Hello, It is not a new fashion. It is old one. It matter of like and dislike. if some can care these then no problem. Expanded nails may be cause of injury. Just my daughter's expanded nail of feed was broken. She have much pain in it. Be careful.

Surekha beti Yes they do, probably for safety, , these days street romeos are seen every where, they tease girls, using this LONG sharp nails they can scratch the face, am i right.. my wife, daughter in lasws, daughter even grand daughters have well trimmed nails

Growing long nails is part of fashion. But it is only good on young ladies whose hands and fingers are not wrinkled. It is not practical for housewives who need to do household chores. We don't need long nails as they are a burden to maintain. Long painted nails look nice and elegant

I like natural nails and never use extentions....I admit they look good but they are not for me! I do my own manicure and keep my nails nice and neat always.

sureka, i too saw that some girls give more importance to their nails and use various polish to give beauty. But i am not interested in this kind of things. My wife is also in my sort not interested in growing her nails, always she cut it in the proper way using the nail cutters and never spend money for the nail polish and nail polish removers

I know that there are a lot of women that do like to wear their nails long, but I've never been one of those women. This started when I was a young girl and I started playing a stringed instrument at a young age (you can't have long nails and play a stringed instrument), then I worked in the nursing field and the bed under your nails could be a great place for bacteria to breed, so I kept my nails short. Now, yes, I do stay at home with my children, but I choose to keep my nails short because of the fact it makes it a lot easier to type with short nails.

I like polished nails on girls. But the color should match the costume. I don't have any objection in people growing nails, until they show intention to catch and hold me with their claws. I am talking about Ripley's-believe-it-or-not or Guinness-World-Record sort of nails. You can kill an entire army with it. They look rather dangerous on girls. I personally, wouldn't like to have a girlfriend with daggers in her hand. Colored daggers sound more sinister to me. Proper shape, like you said, is always acceptable. Dirty nails are even more dangerous they cause bowel upset for your family and yourself (Thank god, college girls don't cook). So my suggestion is, if you grow nails, try to cut it at least once in a month. Then you clean them with detergent and add polish on them.

surekha: Young girls like you may like it. But even then they can maintain all that only upto getting married or getting a child. After that it is a struggle to manage things. Personally I do not like. If any person has nail slightly longer for the sake of presentation --then it is ok and fine. Probably it is fashion nowadays to have it like this. You cannot have it becuase your husband is not in favour of it. his views are like mine. Hope your inlaws are fine.

Well though i do not have enough knowledge about long nails for i have never done that, but i find many loopholes of having long nails than having normal shaped nails. The reason is that long nails might be sensitive if then are not maintained properly. Besides, they might also scratch or cause pain unknowingly if they come in contact with someone's skin or even yours also. I know it is a fashion to keep long nails but not so long that it will cause harm to yourself and to others. What say?

I can only speak for myself, and I think it is not a good habit. For one, especially for clumsy people like me, is the danger of scratching yourself to drop a blood. There's the eyes, or any part of the face which can be scratched badly or worse, someone else. Another is the extra cleaning it requires. Long nails are more prone to get dirt underneath them as per my experience. And lastly, when accidentally bended, it can injure your finger especially if the fingernail was broken below the quick.

It always depends on who's wearing it as long as it is always clean. I used to have long nails before and I also put nail polish on it. Since I am not use to eating with my hands, so it's ok with me to have long nails.
