Early this morning while I was walking to fetch my auntie in order for us to be in the Testing Center site by exactly 6AM for the Licensure Examinations for Teachers where we are Proctors, two dogs, just run after me, and attacked me...I was so nervous, that I just tried to fight back with my clutch bag...so relieved upon seeing a motorcab for hire who throw stones to the dogs...

Wow! Where did this happen? Well, I lived in a province, and have been different provinces as well. I have some unforgettable encounters with some stray dogs, yeah some of them have chased me, barked like crazy, etc. Fortunately, I have never been bitten before, however; I somehow manage to conquer my fear of stray dogs and I no longer panic and run when they start barking or chasing me. What I do now, is that depending on the behavior of the stray, I might just continue walking but never run, or if they start following me and intimidate me, I would also the do the same and try to somehow scare them by pretending that I would attack them or just shout at them. Gladly, it works :). Dogs are territorial animals, they would usually bark at you once you approach or pass through their territory and sometimes they would intimidate/scare you by chasing or following you. Whatever happens, don't panic and run instantly, try to fend them off first by shouting, swaying your umbrella, stick, etc. For some reasons, running is the worst thing you could usually do because dogs tend to feel provoked when they see potential enemy running, hence, they decide to chase you or worst bite you.

You should give this fellow a best response for giving you such an advice. I did the same thing actually, i didn't run and just kept my distance walking. i think these strays should have been caged to some barangay area where they can be guards on the stations. at some sad note, others eat them for pulutan

Did you get scratched or bitten? You must seek medical attention, for even dog scratches can be rabid. Usually, the effect in our system comes out later, so get yourself checked, just to be sure. In my city, dogs are not allowed on the streets. We are required to call the pound and report the dog owners. Irresponsibility in caring for the pets come with stiff penalty. Perhaps you can suggest this on your city council, the local government can issue a city ordinance on pets. Invoke our fundamental human right to feel and stay safe in our own community.

Hello aabuda, that's really sad that you were chase by dogs, good thing for the motorcab driver he actually saved you from those dogs. wow what a morning that is, and i thought going in the morning is more safe than later morning. must be horrible to experience those things in life but you survived and be thankful.

The moment you saw them coming unto you, you should have secured for stones, because the act of just getting a stone would deter them. Though, there indeed dogs who are really so brave that they cannot be deterred by that. You are lucky my friend that they weren't able to bite you.

I haven't experienced being chased by dogs however, I was bitten by one when I was still a child. That was a terrifying experience. I was at my friend's house and I looked for her then it happened that I passed by their dog which was tied. He attacked me and I was shocked. He did not bark at me and I realized that we have to be aware of dogs which seldom bark. Now, I just ignore a barking dog and avoid eye contact with them. If you show that you are afraid of their barking, it seems that they will bark more.

Glad to hear that you were able to evade these dogs. I think the owners of these dogs should be warned that their pets are a nuisance in the streets and should be confined in their property and not allowed to wander around the streets.

Wow that is awful did they just jump on you and bark or did they bite you? When I was a young girl no matter I went dogs would chase me and bite me. People would say there dog had never done anything like that before. I remember a specific time I was playing on my softball team just standing in the field and a dog came running down the hill and I thought to myself that dogs going to bite it. I stood completely still and out of all the kids on the team probably 15 kids I was the one that got bit. Just ran right down the hill and bit me.

Hmmm.. are you new in the area where the dog's attack you? Are you running? Don't just attack unless there is a reason.. Maybe you have done something before and they remember you, dogs know our smell even if we change it clothes everyday...

Dogs can be so scary sometimes. I keep away from them all the time. I just don't like them a lot.

oh this is one of the problems in our community dogs need to be leash so that they wont attack or run after a walker. rabies are really deadly and so be careful always.
