I think everyone has been hit by rough financial times lately. I have a good job and work full time, but sometimes it isn't enough and things get really tight. I have been looking for part-time work but on and off line. I came across a website where you can apply for freelance writing jobs. Since I write in my spare time anyway, I thought, "what the heck!" I applied for a couple and secured my first one. It is a contract to ghost write a short story. I could probably make more in the long run writing and publishing my own collection instead of writing for someone else, but this is quick easy money and I am hyped up about it.

I understand what you mean; sometimes in between paychecks we will have an unexpected expense, or a financial emergency. And still others in between them. Even in a two-income family (me and my husband), we also experience a time when we don't have cash in our hands. Of course I am not that comfortable with charging everything on our credit card, so we really have to find some "side jobs" alongside our day job. LIke me for instance, during tax season, I accept some small-time stores or businesses to prepare their taxes. It's not much, but it's not nothing either. I mean we can always use the extra money.

Hi Tam! Yes, even though we have our full time job, our earnings might just not be enough to cover all the expenses in our daily existence. I also joined a certain writing site for sometime but since I am very busy with my full time job, I cannot continue my writing job. If you have enough time, you can join those sites for you to earn more.
Good luck and have a nice day!
