No money in ATM counter!!!

India
October 1, 2012 3:46am CST
As guests are coming, I went to buy stuffs from market here; hubby’s pension was credited to his account last evening, so we try to draw money from the counter near the temple; close to our home, I am so upset, it had no money, we went to three others; the doors were open, in one there was a dog and a calf. There was no armed guard too. Hubby called the manager of the bank; he said; he is aware of all these; but he can’t do anything; as the work was entrusted to private contractors; it was done at high level. One thing friends; we know fake counterfeit currency; torn notes, comes out from the ATM too, at times the money is less; complaints to officers, news flash in TV has no effect. So what about your place? Any such experience? Do you use ATM for money with drawl and marketing? Some shops here accept ATM and credit cards, but not all. Please share your valued opinion on this story. Kalyani October 1, 2012.

Yes, some times closest ATM here is also out-of-service; perhaps the reason is also because it runs out of money... But I sure never went into one where I found a calf...

Luckily, here in the Philippines the ATMS are plentiful, Kalyni. And the banks specially when it's holidays, they really replenish the cash on the ATM machines. Besides, they see to it that what they put in there are genuine money, lest they will be complained to the Central Bank. Banks are supposed to know what is genuine and what is counterfeit, so they should never ever put fake money on the ATM machines.

Yes, here in the Philippines, international cards are accepted. Thus, tourists merely use their credit cards. Thanks for the BR Kalyni.

It happened to me a lot of time and most times there would be no money in the ATM. Sometimes it might be very urgent for me to have money and I find no money in the ATM when I go to withdraw money. Hope in the future there would be enough money in the ATM.

Dear Mam This is the state of ATMs in almost every place - month start and they have no funds. Maybe we all get paid almost the same dates (like last day of the month or even the 1st of the month) and we all wait to withdraw on the same dates. Luckily, we have been able to find a solution though a not fool proof one - we have arranged to pay out the rentals and also the bills of electricity or others later between 5-15th of every month and this does help sometimes.

well, it depends on where that ATM is. If it is in the center, many people withdraw money from it then for sure its currency is gone soon..

Kalyani mam, sad to hear about your issues. In our place ATM machines are working properly as well as have security guard. I never find dog or calf in the ATM center in my place, as you mentioned prof called to the manager and he told that he knows about every things. Really the bank is very careless to let the ATM center in this useless way.

Dear Ma, It happened in many times, the ATM is empty. I must add, in this place ATM centers are plenty now. I wish to share some incident happened 5 days ago. 5 crore rupees robbed and the money was supposed to put on ATM machine. 3 days ago, the driver of the vehicle, absconded with 40 lakhs rupees, this money also meant to put in ATM. Now where is the safety? Life is insecure, all over the world.

This is very frustrating to me as well! One day I went to one of the ATMs for my bank and it was not working and I drove all the way across town to find the only other one not working as well. I was very upset but I did not know how to work on them myself! lol So I just had to wait!

With those big banks ATM, we don't have issue with them. Although I heard one or two complaints from the radio before. But, at a club one time, I tried to use my credit card to withdraw some cash, it just didn't work. Probably that machine was out of money at the moment. So, I don't know about India, but here in the U.S.A, we rarely encountered such problem as you described.
