Pedestrians

Philippines

Sunday afternoon, just after the 4pm mass, the people are rushing to go home, some to malls and fastfood establishments to spend their sunday time with family and friends. The traffic lights have just been installed on that particular area of the city, its all new, I mean not yet a month or two months old. I was about to cross the street when the "dont walk" sign hit red. So i stopped to wait for the sign to go green. I just don't see the point when the other people, whom should see the very bright red light, seems to see nothing at all, and just walked the street and pretended that no traffic lights were there to control whose going to cross first. You see, some people cry for help because of poverty, and they blame other people. What they cannot figure out, is that the biggest change will begin from themselves only and not from anywhere else. If these group people cannot follow a simple traffic light, how can they say that Philippines is poor, when in fact, sometimes, they are the main reason why?

The Philippines have been left behind by other countries because of one reason, and that is DISCIPLINE. People needs to have discipline in order for us to grow and be progressive. Discipline starts in our own homes. Parents should instill it to their children as early as possible. In doing this, we are helping our country raise responsible and disciplined citizens.

I used to do that if there's no card around specially in the morning, if im out from work around 6am in Makati area there''s no car around but stop light still running,we normally don't follow it than wait for it. Probably it depends to the situation. But if there's plenty of car and rush hours then i will not bother to do it to avoid being hit. well just to be safe.

Well, these people may lack self-discipline. Change of a nation should come first within the family. But in the Philippines, most specially in the big cities, there are homeless children who don't have parents or guardians to care and discipline them. Something must be done.

Well most Filipinos are really like that. They don't usually follow traffic signs or any simple instructions being posted on the road. An I might say that Filipinos were really lacking a lot of self discipline with regards to this matter. :)

Yes you are right. They have no discipline at all. That simple scenario reflects how indiscipline people are.You are right to your statement that we should change for us to improve our lives. We should obey all the rules and laws imposed so that our community will improve also.We should start on our own.

You are right in our country people didn't complete their civic duties but always blames other for their weakness. if they improve their own then all will be solved

Some people really do lack the attitude of "Discipline". We really can't force them, our country lacks the action about this people, doing things against the law. Some people are really hard-headed unless they suffer something, such as incident or accidents in the road, then they will learn to value how important it is to follow traffic rules and regulations.

i guess they are not used to the traffic light..lol I know it is funny but they should realize the mistake and try to follow the rules. Yeah if people start acting smart and are alert, then there will change come in in the whole country. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

Change does indeed start from each one of us. We cannot just always cry for help and blame the government if we are not willing to help our own selves. Sadly, I can see the same attitude from where I am. Maybe they think that they can get away with it, plus they always say that it's not only them who does that.
