To many people, the way success is measured is by their bank account and size of their houses and material possesions. I am successful because i am rich.! Yup ,a view shared by a very large proportion of people in the planet. To me i will rather measure my success via the way i feel at the moment. That i was able to experience a wide range of emotions ,those gifts of God to which only humans are priviledged to feel,a whole range of emotions from sadness to happiness. Excitement to fear etc etc.
To many people making money is their sole purpose for living ,everything else is not important.More money equals success, simple maths.
Many of us probably feel ,we are not successful mainly because we are not wealthy and struggling with money issues.Cant buy this or that.
I have felt all the main god given emotions, love, hate, sadness, happiness, disappointment plus few more, danger, fear, relief. Looking back i get a sense of gratification.I may not be well off financially,i think i have succeeded in living a interesting lifestyle.
What is a successful life to you mylotters?

I agree with your point, Bryan. I define success as: the feeling of accomplishment, contentment and joy in regard to all aspects of my life, which is what I'm feeling right now. I don't earn a big salary, just enough to live comfortably, and that is adequate for now. That is not to say that I'm not ambitious or have no hope for a better wages; just that I am feeling pretty much successful right now because of the very definition I gave. I do thank God for everything :) That said, I am also working on fulfilling my ambitions, which I think is another topic altogether.

Feeling successful is like many other things,a state of mind .Ambition is good.So are
aspirations and all that.MAINLY, i feel ,if we are able to sustain feeling satisfied and contentment on a day to day basis(which is actually not as easy as it sounds).ESpecially the feeling of succeeding in accomplishing something up to the very moment, small or insignificant it may seem. It is success to a measure. Then we can think, come what may,for it is on another day!

its nothing but living life to the fullest and having all luxuries ,its all fake success ,for me success is when we help and share joy with others.it really means a lot to the value and we can be happy which transpires into success

I don't agree with you. To many people succes is not measered by their bank account or size of their house or new car at all, it's what society (or the bank) measures. This is something completely different. This means that if you want to join the club/cattle, want to have the same rights you have to join. This is also the reason why so many people driving brand new cars and perhaps have a well furnished living room have no bed or one with a bad matrass, no curtain etc. So just what the neigbours/outside world can see looks great. It must be terrible to have such a stress to keep up appearances. Worst of this all is you won't make friends at all and you have no self esteem or know any happiness or satisfaction either.
I don't measure my succes on what others think of me. What my success in life is I measur on me and only I will now if my life is nearly ended. Since this is my life, I am responsible for me, my own development and own happiness. What is good for me, succesful for me doesn't need to be good for others, so why taking them as an example? That doesn't make sense at all. BTW a succesful life is surely not a great job or carreer since this won't last forever and if this is the only thing you have in life you will surely be a big nothing as soon as it ends. Remember that everybody can be replaced and the world will go on without you as well.

In a nutshell,we are born , lived our formative years as teen, youth ,mature adult and gradually age. then we leave this world.Even that, not every person who was ever born can live through all the stages. So in between , how we lived and how we feel as a individual at this very present moment defines whether we have lived a successful life . To me it is really quite simple. If we can without any doubt, say to ourselves now,i feel contented and grateful with what i have and know exactly who i am,
no feelings of regret, remorse or guilt to anyone.
then i deem myself to have lived a success to this point in time.

For me the true meaning of success goes far beyond the common definitions of success, such as having a lot of money, being wealth, having a lot of tangibles and earned degrees. But instead with the amount of people that are able to be happier or even can live a better life because of what I created. Guess because I love to make crafts, I'll be very happy when people come to be happy because of what I created. If there are many people who enjoyed what I made, I become very happy too and that's my definition of success.

think i can relate a litle to what you described. Don't have a flair for craftmanship myself yet i am a bit of a musician . Yet ,feelings of accomplishment and gratification upon completion of a piece of craft is joyful.
1st taste of success.
And even more so,if one is able to share that completed piece with others, whether displaying or selling or presenting. Afterall, the goal of crafting something is to have the completed work appreciated. And if one's craft work can bring a smile or alter state of mind of another's mood. i would equate that as being a success.
Just like playing music to an audience, and of which through their body language or
expressions suggest that they are feeling entertained by the music i am playing.that feeling is really blissful.A feeling of success in accomplisment of an aim. to entertain,

Maybe I can't agree with you completely. You say the success can't measured by money. For most people, I admit that. But you know, in this world there are still some people who just don't have enough to eat. What those people want is eat satisfied and wear worm, so they need money, they want money. For them, enough money is success.

As you said, success can't be measured by money, but without money we can't succeed easily. In my opinion, success is an atitude towards life.Wherever you live, whatever you do,you are always satisfied with all the things around you. then you can say you are the richest one in this world, though you are not the millionaire.
