Will you reconnect with a special friend after 16years of separation?

Hi friends in my lot, I have recently gotten across the profile of my once special friend of 16 years ago in another social networking site, and I am at loss if I will try to reconnect with him once again. You see, when we part ways during our college days, we did not part on good terms due to some petty issues, and the shortcoming is on my end because I did not try to listen to him when he tried to explain things and apologize years ago, we ended up not talking to each other since then. I do not feel any guilt and loss at that time, maybe because I'm not really aware of what I feel for him, until it was already late for me to realize it, when we are not seeing each other anymore, but even then I was hoping that we'll get to see each other again because we have several common friends, but it did not happen 'coz 3 years after we stopped talking to each other, I heard news that he left for another country in the west. From then on, I was praying hard for another chance for me to get some ways to reach out to him, just to let him know that I had already accepted his apologies and it's already all water under the bridge, I've searched all over the net and have asked common friends about him but nobody can give me any information. Now, after 16 years without connection, I have located him and there's a way to reach out to him, but I am adamant about it because I am not sure how he's reception will be, and to consider that he's already so successful in his life, I am feeling the difference between us and a big big distance already covers us. Do I still need to reach out to him or just get on with my life? Your opinions matter, please help me decide. Thanks in advance.
