how important is education to children?

I wonder why young students these days take education for granted. They prefer to stay home and watch T.V. or just go out and play or hang out with friends. It seems to me that they have no dreams or goals in life. Can you think of good ways to convince or encourage children to focus on their studies instead of doing stupid things? It's difficult to let young people nowadays understand the importance of education. I'm having the same problem with my kids, too.

Sometimes it helps to point out the differences in someone who has a good education and someone who doesn't. Look up statistics of how much more money a person who worked for their grades and completes college can make compared to someone who didn't. I also make sure that my children see me trying to learn new things. Find fun ways to help children learn instead of just studying. Take them to hands-on museums or a weekly trip to the library. I may just be lucky, but my children enjoy learning and do great in school.

It's good to hear that your kids enjoy studying. I never brought them to any museum or a library. I guess that would be really interesting. Thanks for the advice.

I always think how a child brought up is very important, how the parents behave is very important. If the parent likes to read, I believe you do not need to teach your child, and he will surely like to read too. If the parent likes to learn, so does the child. I agree with you that some young people do not appreciate what they have, perhaps they own something too easily, and they forgot to give and appreciate.

Very important in a competitive world most because of the papers. They know a person studied here and there and that much so the person is worthed... unfortunately that's how people are seen. Now for me more important than that it's to raise them to think for themselves. That's more important than any school and any college. Most people act like sheeps with opinions they heard on tv and are just followers, it takes courage to be your true self in this world.
