Well, I heard over the TV that Jinkee Pacquiao (who as everybody knows is Manny Pacquio's wife) is running as a vice governor in Sarranngani city. I am not in or from Saraggani so I cannot comment on the incumbent's performance but it is quite shocking since I know her as a celebrity. I don't know what she's offering to the table but if anybody knows, I'm listening.

I passed by Sarranngani when I last went to South Cotabato and I've got to say, the place really changed a lot from how it was some 8 years ago. I'm not really sure whose governing there that really changed the place but if the people of that city really likes the Pacquiao's governing, who are we, people outside of that place, to say that this person who we see as a "celebrity" is not fit to help them?
In the first place, the wife isn't the celebrity--well, that's how I see it since I don't really see her around media. It's always Pacquiao's mom or Manny himself who gets the spotlight. But then again, I may be wrong...

It really does seem that way nowadays. The public seemed to be really brainwashed enough to not see anymore the difference between entertainment and politics. Maybe because our media is so focused on dramas that they can't recognize fiction anymore from reality? And that they're feeding masses what they see as well? That's HORRIBLE!
No wonder my fellow students are...not idiots...ignorant of what really is from what is fed to them.

Who ever was the governor there, definitely was not Jinky and it could change possibly from bad to worse if they have jhinky running for their municipality. lack of education is what made them less choosy with these candidates but right now this is something that the people of saranggani should talk upon.

As mentioned,I don't live or visited Sarranganni so I don't know where the credit is due. But I think the people who lived there knew and they will act on what want in a leader.
I consider Jinkee a celebrity since she appears in magazines and quite in showbiz circles. I am sure she has her own plans for Saranganni if she got elected. For me, I don't hold it against her but being a leader(not just a politician ) is not easy. Th people's problems are your problems and you the blame almost every time. But then avian, election barely starts so we don't what's gonna happen. Also, perhaps the line between showbiz and politics is becoming too thin to recognize.

Hi,
Philippine politics has not changed in the past few years. If you have the money, then you may spend it on politics. The way some people look up to someone with a lot of money, they will always surely win. They can make up with the loss later.

Actually, I am not expecting it tonnage. Not even if Aquino sits on that office for another term of office. The only thing about this is the irony of the situation. People want to see change but act on it. Leaders breaking promises and having an induced amnesia over these kind of things. Juts seeing the line-up for senatoriables for some parties makes me shake my head in revulsion.

Well I guess everybody was surprised to hear that she has entered politics like his husband who is running for his second term in Congress. I think she is running along with the incumbent Governor which I know is a powerful political clan in the province. I think this is a compromise with the Pacquiao's since I know he was originally planning to run for Governor in the province. But I guess the incumbent negotiated with them so the incumbent can secure his position as Governor.

Thanks for the back story.I didn't consider the local politics (which I should've. Then again, Saranganni politics was relatively quiet before Pacquio's election.

Well I guess the incumbent is not yet ready to give up his seat with the Pacquiao's which is gaining popularity and gaining their stronghold in the province. I think this is the best compromise the governor can have to control the province. Let Manny finish his second term in Congress maybe up until the third term then they would exchange when the governor would run for congress and Manny for gubernatorial position. Nice arrangement of power sharing scheme. They know they can hold the province under their influence with these silent partnership.

A lot of people would normally raise eyebrows considering that Jinky don't have any background in politics but personally she's better off running since the problem we're facing now is not about qualification of the candidates but their ability to battle corruption. With the kind of money the Pacquiao's have, I don't think corruption is in their priority list.

I agree with you on that ybong.
With their wealth and in so much into their religious life, maybe they have realized they can be instruments of God in giving help to people.
Let's see what she has for her platform, though i think she has to have a crash court on governance.

I agree that corruption is likely not on their agenda. I don't know what else she got to offer other than that. Personally, a leader for me should not be corrupt but also has skills. That I'm very eager to hear from her side. I hope she doesn't get too much burned out on her crash course.

Like her husband, I don't think she has the know-how or capability to be a good leader. She only has the name because of her husband's reputation. We all know how vain she is, wanting to own bags that cost more than 3 million pesos each. How can a person as lame as that ever lead any place?

Well, her surname is definitely a big pull towards the voters. It's practically a brand in its own right. If you look around the line-ups, old names always crop up again and again. In elections, a good name is somewhat a guarantee to being recalled or remembered. For your question, that the question I wish to ask for the people who might or gnat to vote for her.

I've also heard that on the news. And she said in the interview that she was just convinced by his husband to accept the candidacy for vice governor. And I don't see anything wrong about that. Despite of her skills and education. Because I know that their family really provide and offer help for the needy and poor. :)

I suppose you are from Saranggani. As I said in another response, I have no qualms with her running, she can be qualified to run. To hold the actual office, I don't know.

Hello jeanneyvonne, I watch the news but believe me if I say i don't trust the media anymore because of them being too bias last 2010 and i never forgot that. Let the people of saranggani judge on how junky will run if she win the vice-governorship. It's easy to get mad because they are now being part of this so called political dynasty on the rise.

I hope Manny will not resort to this horrible practice. I mean, he seems have good intentions even though he's foll wing the corrupt system. He and his name is too good to be tarnished by that practice. I know that they will less likely to be corrupt but I don't think the public will label them kindly if they do that.

I dont know what she could offer. They can just help the people even without running for public office, the hell is wrong with these people? What does she have to offer? I have no idea, to be honest. Thank god Im not from Sarnaggani :)

This is what I thought when Manny was campaigning for his seat years back. This is also the issue I bring up whenever someone asks from my opinion regarding running for a seat. Personally, I think if I were in the position, I will have more headaches than problem solved. Then again, maybe Jinkee will prove me wrong.

I guess the Pacquiao is eyeing for national position in the future. Well its not the questions if she is capable or not. For me I think the Pacquiao see politics as a way to thank all the people in their province. I think its their way to help as we all knew they are capable in terms of financial.

I'm not contesting the financial part. It's the skills that I'm after. True, money does solve many problems but being a leader doesn't mean you have to poor or rich (being rich is good but if you became richer then...). My case in pint would be Robredo. He was high official with the skills and the brains. And basically he was poor compared to other officials in government. I hope that people will also count that factor in a leader and not just being wealthy.

Everybody as long as qualified has the right to file their candidacy if they want to run for government offices. Anything goes in Philippines politics, and Jinkee's candidacy never shock me anymore. With truckloads of money, surely politicians court her to be on their ticket.

Actually,I was surprised but not entirely sh coked.I admit that Jinkee is eligible to file and to campaign, what I'm speculating about is if she wins can she handle the position given to her. I don't know her talents and skills for such a position but I think she will inform people when she's already into the campaign.

Well, everyone can run for a position in the government and with being mrs. pacquiao is no exception. What I like about them though is they don't show interest in any corruption co's they are wealthy people and they were once poor like most Filipinos and they're meaning to help those whose in need.
I just hope and pray that the good men will indeed take the position and those who's intention in running for a position this coming election won't succeed. I'm too tired of bad governance. I'm praying for a good one, after all FILIPINO's deserve it!

You're right. Everybody can run but not everyone can perform the job and win the set a in the first place. There is a reason why the COMELEC do declare nuisance candidates. However have yet to see what Mrs. Pacquiao can of fer. Ii am also tired of bad governance and too much politics. Sometimes,I wish I could surrender my right to vote since the candidates are not so deserving anyway
