I had forgotten just how tiny they are

You know Paul is going to be six years old next week and Kathryn is almost ten years old. My nieces are 5, 4 and 14 months old. Well, today I had the opportunity to meet one of my closest friend's youngest son, baby Lonnie Rayce. He is two weeks and two days old now and I was just amazed by him. He is so very tiny, but he already weighs a pound more than Kathryn did when she was born. He is already lifting his little head and looking all around and he is very alert as well. He is definitely perfect in every way. So, as parents or grandparents, do you find that when you meet a new little miracle that you have forgotten how tiny that they are when you see them for the first time? Do you agree with me that new babies are the greatest miracle in the world? And of course when was the last time that you had the opportunity to spend some time with a brand new baby?

Oh my yes. When I say my sister-in-laws baby in July he was only 2 months old. I was like oh my god he is so tine even though he was much bigger then my daughter when he was born. I picked him up and I was like I forgot how light they are at first. I'm use to carrying around a 20lb toddler on my hip and this was so different. I said the same thing and cried a bit after seeing my son born 5 weeks ago. He is still so light even though he is almost 9lbs. I'm enjoying every little moment with him being this small because I know I'll forget what it's like to have one this small till the next time I have baby or the next baby in our family is born.

You know, Rayce was almost eight pounds and a little bit over two weeks old when I saw him earlier this week. This weekend I've been invited to a baby shower for one of my cousins and yet another of my cousins just had her new baby girl last weekend, so I will get to see another tiny baby this weekend as well. It is really making me want to add another child to my family.

It definitely does sound like he is putting on weight well. I'm sure that he doesn't even have that newborn look any more either. I know that during that first year the children change so very much.

I enjoy seeing other peoples baby's just as much as my own. I just saw and am seeing for a while my other nephew. He is almost the same size as my daughter already. The cool thing is our sons where born 3 months apart and weighted almost the same weight. Now my little JD he weighted at 6 weeks 9lbs 12oz. He is a chunker even though he doesn't look it.

I always cherish the memories of my kids when they were new born. It felt really great holding them in my arms while they were really tiny. I keep remembering those times, specially now when they drive me nuts with their whining and sometimes fighting!

You are right that the whining and nit picking is something that drives me insane at times. Now, today I have to say that I am really reflective because of the fact that my youngest will be celebrating his sixth birthday tomorrow.

THey are so precious. My niece had a baby in July and in August we got to see him when he was just a month old. You do forget how very small they are and so delicate....he is a cutie too...of course I am in no way prejudice to his good looks! LOL.....but he is certainly a keeper!

That is the way that it is with Rayce. He is just perfect in every way. He is going to have beautiful eyes as he gets older, I can tell that already because they are such a pretty blue right now and they will stay blue since both of his parents have blue eyes. He also has a head full of beautiful hair and he is just so very strong.

Definitely miracles and yes, each time I had a baby, I had forgotten how small they are. I would love to hold my baby and feel them snugggle into my neck. and remember there first smiles? They would be nursing and then suddenly stop and give a toothless grin. It used to melt my heart. I am longing for my daughter to have a baby but it won't be for a few years:(

I was never lucky enough to get to nurse my babies, but I loved the bonding time that the two of us had while I was giving them their bottles. Those little grins and the looks like they are trying to memorize everything is just too perfect for this life.

It is honestly not that they don't know anything because babies and toddlers are much more intelligent than we give them credit for. Instead, it is a matter of the fact that there is a communication barrier between us and them.

Hi, I have only son. It was the happiest moment in my life when he born. Now he is 23 years old. My sister have two sons and two grandsons. I had such opportunity to suspend time with cute new born baby three years ago when my sister's grandson born. I like to spend the time with new born babies. Every movement of these cute and innocent babies make me happy.

You are definitely right. There is nothing about a beautiful new baby that isn't perfect and adorable. Rayce is just a beautiful little boy and my new cousin, Alexa, who I'm going to get to meet this weekend is beautiful as well.

They are indeed a miracle and a joy inside a home. In my part, i am 12 years older than my youngest sister. And every time i see cute little babies in months old i remember how she had grown too fast. I've even wished that she'll stay baby forever. Now she's 4 and very witty and naughty. She never misses making my day special everyday.

There is no way that you can have a day in your life that is not special when there is a child around. For me, I love spending time with my children, my nieces and even my best friend's children. When it comes to baby Rayce, I hesitated at asking to hold him because he isn't my family, but my friend (his aunt) told me that I should have held him because I am like family to both her and her brother (the baby's father).

My friend, dorannmwin, when I read your words,I know you are a good mother. As parent,I find that when I meet a new little miracle that I have forgotten how tiny that they are when I see them for the first time. My son now is only 107 days,he is very strong and handsome,I think he is my lovely angel. When I see his eyes,my heart is very excited. He let me know my duty, let me work hard. I agree with you that new babies are the greatest miracle in the world!!! The new babies are God give us angels, the new babies are our hope!!! I hope I can spend my whole time with my son,he is very little. If my son in my embrace,I always sing song for him, that is my best happily time. Best wishes to your family!!!

And your little one is still so young. As I look at my son turning six years old next week, I just remember all of those precious times that I was able to spend with my children when they were really small. Now they are older and I don't get to cuddle with them as often as I used to, instead, I get to see the "I love you Mommy" notes that they write for me and it is just great.
