What if we could record in video memories from our parents or older generations?

I admire my father for his knowledge of almost everything. I wish I was like that. He reads a lot and knows a lot. When he talks to me about the past I wish there was some way to take those memories and see them in video. Of course some bad person would use it to try and steal memmories for any bad reason. What do you think of that? Would you like to see what your parents describe?

There are photographs of some incidence or diary describing the event or a place they have been part of.Now you always record everything, sometimes you are overwhelmed by this information. Why should a bad person access your parents Videos, you should never have such negative thoughts.Keep all your information under lock and key.Getting frightened on an imaginary circumstances will not help us in anyway.I would like to record my parents description and then go there with them to recapture their memories.

You misunderstood my friend. You combined the bad perosn with my parents. I never wrote that. What I meant was that I would like to see historical facts as they exist in someone's mind.

I just wanted to have a positive attitude towards your fathers memories.Nothing bad will happen to good memories,if recorded they will add values to future generation.

I'd've love to have seen Dad's flying lesson! He took the small plane up to a stall and then neither he, nor the flight instructor could get it started again, they managed to get to a small private airfield to land, but the way he told it, dropping into the landing pattern of these girls learning to fly to land (of course they didn't have radios in the planes at that time) would've been priceless!

Yeah, we can learn a lot from our fathers, they have so much experienced in life.. I would love also to record all the memories and see all of it.. But this can't be done.. the beauty of life is like this: in order for you to learn you have to experience it and discover it on your own. It is more satisfying if you are the one able to accomplish and discover it by yourself..

We must discover life in our own way. I was thinking of historic memories, like wars, economy, and other stories they tell me that I would like to see.

Well, my father was born after the war, has a nice store of memories and even knowledge. Between him and me, we are 30 years difference, I would have a lot to learn from him, the key thing that he could send me is without a doubt his experience, in all areas. Unfortunately, I must emphasize that when family relationships in general I have with my parents, are not optimal for different reasons. I hope that everything will be resolved as soon as possible and in the best way.

sometimes i hear stories about the past, and the time described sounds more innocent than now, and the stories of less traffic, and things like that makes it sound a much better place to be. i met an old woman recently, she was about 87, standing looking at a road near where i live, and i talked to her and she told me she lived there when she was young, and the way she described it made it sound idyllic. but i will never know if it really was, and most of the housing she described had been knocked down and replaced. though i do think memories of older people are important, and though you can't make a video of the things your father remembers, you could make a video of him talking about them. there are people who want to return us to an idealised vision of the past, that never existed, and in many ways that is a risk in difficult political times, so i can see why you might think that stealing memories could be done for a bad reason, but i think it would be nice to record him for your own personal use.

I could record him telling the stories, not the same but a very good way to have history by a witness.

hi kostas, this brings to mind what my 19 year old grandson said to me...He heard me telling his mother how my generation use to work and waited for the weekend so we could dress up and go out to a club to party...and have a great safe time.. He said "Nana I wish I was back in those days where you could actually go to a club and have fun without any incidents"... see I live in New York and its just not as safe as it was when my generation was growing up and going out...neither is society the same... I guess you are probbably thinking I am so old..lol..

I am thinking that your generation lived in better conditions. Harder but happier.

My mother was that way. Very knowlegeable. She was an avid reader and news watcher. She was a whiz at math too. I would love to have the memories in video of my grandmother and her favorite stories of when she was a young girl. I would have to keep the videos under lock and key cause I would love them so much I wouldn't want anyone to get them.
