I have seen lots of people they have more property or money but their health is not good and Dr. suggest them dont eat this and this....means they have all but they cant eat. In my neighbor a person has millions of property his kidney fail due to liquor and for his treatment their family members spend total 60 lakhs Rs. with in 1 year. Chennai to Mumbai then again Mumbai to Chennai two to three times change the city and hospital but no result found finally he died. Our 25% town property is his.
Yesterday I watch a TV program and a man said now we cant say the person is rich if they have more money but we can say the person is rich if his health is good. Because money is not everything. Property remains here but we gone by body then why run behind property why not enjoy the life with lots of good moments. I also observe if more money means more tension we think our money can stole by thieves, some time think to safe place for money means full night gone only in thinking. What you say is it right. Sorry my discussion is very lengthy but it necessary to write all points.

I absolutely agree with you on this. As matter of fact, if you don't have health, you simply won't have an enjoyable moment to enjoy it. I would say, why not take care of your health, about whether you are rich or not, it is really depends on your fate. We struggle to make the most money everyday, but we can't neglect our health also.

It is proverb for long time that "health is wealth". But it is not true in context of present time. Now we can say that "health is wealth and wealth in health". At present when pure water to drink is not available with money than how can we think about good health without money. In brief we must have wealth which is must to maintain good health.

Hi surekha!
Yes, you are very right that now a days one's health is more important than one's wealth.
If one is not healthy and is suffering from any major disease like BP or Diabetes or heart related problem then s/he can not enjoy his/her life.
It is, therefore, we should take due care of our health and should pray to the great God to keep us blessed and healthy.
Good post.

Health is very difficult to plan for. Wealth is necessary for planning that health. Take for example in today's world. In India, an average person around 50's should have a cover of 30,00,000 INR for lifetime, and believe me, he would still be spending another 3 to 5 lakhs beyond this. Imagine this amount of cover for the entire family of say 4 members. You are talking about 1,50,00,000 INR, when you do not have health issues like this person had. You've quoted 60 lakhs in case of one person which seems to be a case of series of misdiagnosis. But 1,50,00,000 INR is the minimum provision that needs to be dumped into banks and it is like fill it, shut it, and forget it type of money. That amount, however, would attract wealth tax, as well as kidnappers and other Income Tax people. So most people provide for their health in other forms be it insurances and properties. Insurances can only cover part of the expenses.
Thumb rule would be ..if you need 6,00,000 for a procedure today, you would need 7 to 8 times that for the same procedure in about 20 years period. So yes, property is ironically needed to provide for health. The guy in question loved his family very very much. This is because he even anticipated misdiagnosis.

60 lakhs?????? And he was still trying to get a cure within the country? Find it strange..I am told outside the country especially in the US, the cost of being hospitalized as of date is about 2000 dollars per day. That is about 100000 per day..total cost including travel and that of assistant's stay for approx. 2 months would be covered with that kind of monies...are you truly sure he spent that much. If he did, and did not survive, he approached the wrong doctors.
One of the disadvantages of being rich is having friends who cant be much good. I mean, if his friends were the doctors, then they obviously were not the best because had they been the best in the town, they would have left the town for greener pastures or would be concentrating more on their careers. In the worst case scenario, they were possibly jealous of him..eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek

No I don't agree with you even my health is bad and it always was. I can assure you, your health won't be great if you have no penny to spend on food for you or your kids. If that happens and you can't visit a doctor, if you are pregnant and have to do it alone because you can't pay a doctor or hospital. It's all cheap talking that health is more important as money it surely isn't. The world/societies are build on money. You can't get water anymore if you don't pay for it (at least this is the case in my country).

Friend I am telling about more money everyone running behind earning more money some persons are ready to kill their family members only for property matter. If God giving us enough money for eating meals, wearing cloths, maintain the child expenses then no wants more and more money. We spend our full life for earning money not spend some time with child then our health is not well because full day work then how can manage our child even we have lots of money. If our health is good then we can earn money but if we have money but health is not good we cant do anything.

Of course, I can't agree with you more that health is much more important than wealth or money. Especially for the olds, they know the true meaning of health. So we should keep a good habit and make our body much healthier.

We are born and we die with nothing. Money will not buy us more health nor eternal life. But if we center our thoughts and will in getting love and friendship, we can lead a fruitful life and be very happy.

Being the wife of a man that has gone through a major health crisis in the last year, I definitely think that our health is much more important than the amount of money that we have in our lives. Because of the health crisis that my husband has been through, we are more broke than we ever thought that we would be in our lives, but his regaining his health over the last several months, I find that we are much happier now than we were when we had more money and Tom was sick all the time.

Hi,
Who wants lots of money that cannot be enjoyed due to poor health. It is more enjoyable walking down the street admiring the beautiful scenery, breathing the fresh air, feeling the wind and the sun on the skin than lying on a bed of money with no more than a respirator to breathe in.

Health is to be given top priority no doubt, but wealth /money is needed once you become ill, 60 lakhs in one year, ohh my god, he is the richest man of your town?
A man is rich if he has much money no doubt

I agree. Even if you have millions, how will you enjoy it and the rest of your hard earned wealth if you are confined in bed? On the other hand, even if you can't afford trips and vacations abroad, but you can run, walk, dance, enjoy the sun, then you can also be happy.

My professor made this hearty discussion in class. He mentioned how funny it is when people burn everything in order to get rich: they work real hard, work extra hours, work jobs in between and the like.. And when they do get rich, they'll end up using all their wealth in order to restore their health because it has suffered so much from their overwork. Yes, people work really hard to get rich, only so that they can restore it later on. It's a really sick cycle, but it does happen.. It should be a balance: work so that you'll have food on the table but do not overdo it just so end up sacrificing your health. I am totally in agreement with you, surekharathi. :)

We have a saying "poor is the one who lost the grace of God" so if you have the grace of God you are rich, in health, family, and every thing you need...material things don't add up for happiness...but to be great full add to our wealth!

How true. Anyone would be willing to give up everything for good health. What good will all your millions do if you are on life support? We all should aim for a good life by keeping our bodies fit and healthy. No amount of money can buy us this. We need self-discipline to be able to do this.

Health is most important, indeed, we can't have or we can't gain money if our health is weak. Right?, We can do nothing without our health, we cannot do anything what we want without our health.
...good day to all!...

I think they are both important. If you have money, you are capable of acquiring good health care. If you fall really sick and you have no money to seek treatment, you may die. It's great if you have good health and all but having money too just makes it all great. I don't think one is more important than the other. If you think about it, many of the struggles most people go through in life revolves around not having enough money to do what they want to do. In life, almost everything cost money and if you don't have money you're pretty much screwed.
Can you imagine not having any money at all and having to struggle daily? That is not a good way to live because you're constantly lacking and you can't really enjoy much if you're always struggling to make ends meet.
Personally, if my health is great that is a bonus. Having lots of money gives you some power regardless of what you may hear. Nobody in their right mind really wants to be broke; no one wants to be broke either.
