Fall is here

Fall is here and in a few days I should be able to rake the leaves into jack o lantern bags I am about to get. It used to be a tradition growing up, I remember my second cousin and I raking the leaves and jumping in them before putting them in bags, here, at my grandparents place. Now I will do this with my niece and nephew. I believe this will be the first time they will have ever done anything like this, and hope they will find it a fun time and a happy memory. Attached is a photo of how much the leaves have fallen currently. Do you have a fall tradition with your kids? *It won't let me attach the photo*

My daughter and I were out driving around today running errands and we noticed how pretty our trees around here have turned. Red and yellow and orange and even pink. I remember it was sure fun back when I was about five years old and out helping my grandfather rake leaves. I would rake a big bunch and move it around like it was the floor plan of my house. My mom brought me some Necco candies and I would hide them in the leasves that were the kitchen. Our Fall tradition is picking some pumpkins for my daughter and grandson to carve. We set them out in front with little notive candles inside. But the best part is baking the seeds and putting the spice on them. They are so tasty!

I don't know as I don't believe I've ever gone to a park... well yes I have. One Halloween we wanted to go on a hay ride, and there was one in the park, but we forget that they closed early, I think even earlier then usual, and so we were trespassing, purely by mistake though.

We carved pumpkins as well and that was fun. My mom used to have decorations for halloween but I vaguely remember it now. The trees are starting to turn here and I can't wait to see them all turn. I may need to plan a little outing with friends or family and a picnic in a park, hmm...

It's the kids favorite holiday. I like it too cause it is full of supernatural stuff and I am interested in such things. They always have the documentaries on Withches, Salem, vampires, all that fun stuff. lol We have a few decorations too. Do they close the parks where you are like they do here. Close the bathrooms so if you do go you have to wait. Ugh! Wouldn't be fun for me.

We didn't have those bags when I was a kid, we didn't have plastic bags even, only paper... I'm not really that old, but...

They might've been around in the late '80's, but I can't remember raking leaves wasn't much fun if I couldn't jump in them, and I don't land as well as I used to!

We were always allowed to rake, jump, then rake again to put them in the bag. Of course at that time it was only one tree. There are a lot of roots around said tree now, so jumping may not be a good idea for anyone come to think of it.

The concept of plastic bags are new. I was born in '87 and so this was me as a 90's kid raking the leaves, I think even then the jack-o-lantern bags were fairly new.

We used to do that when I was younger jump in a pile of leaves before they got raked up in bags. Now we don't even bother with it but my sister does it with her kids and they love it. I don't even bother raking leaves anymore I just leave them, too much work. But I hope you're niece and nephew will enjoy the fun.

I hope so too! I will have to get the bags next paycheck though as this one is being used for my cell phone bill. We wouldn't be bothering with it either if it weren't for the kids, but I thought of it and figured it'd be a great idea that they'd have fun with.

There's no fall season in my country. I wish we have. I'd love to see orange or red leaves falling on the ground.I hope your nephew and your niece will enjoy it. Have fun all of you. Happy mylotting. :)

If the leaves come in great, and I can get a picture to upload, I will upload a picture of fall around me. Thanks for your response, hoping one day you can go visit a place with beautiful fall trees.

Leaves in yard - Leaves in yard, pretty huh?
I'm sorry that it's taken so long. I just now remembered I can switch the file to a jpeg in paint. I don't think this picture does it any justice, and the leaves are a more pretty shade now.

Hi, There's the advantage of a four-season system. We only have two here, the rainy and the summer months with nothing in between but the sun and the rains. How I wish I could see the autumn leaves, then the winter snow, the springtime day and the summer sun. It sure is a very nice experience, this changing of the seasons.

I suppose I'd get used to just going from rainy to summer, but it'd be a bummer as well. Hopefully one day you can take a vacation to a place where the seasons do change from Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer.

It is a quite sweet scene that you described. When I was young, I always played with my friends in a bush in autumn. Indeed, at that time, we could find many fruits without poison and sing songs together. But when I grew up, it would be impossible for me to behave like that. What a pity!

I don't let society dictate what I do and don't do. If I want to watch a cartoon, I watch it. If I want to rake the leaves AND jump in them with the kids, I'll do it. Now I don't go outside and play or anything, unless my niece and nephew ask me too, but I'm not going to not have fun because the neighbor might be looking. Maybe you can't play in the bush, but no harm in getting the fruit from it, right?

People will always speak what they want to speak, even if what they speak isn't right or without full knowledge of the situation, let them.

You are right. I always do something what others say is right and good, although sometimes I do not like them. Maybe I need to have a change, and I should try my best to make myself happy and do things that I think is right. I hope that others will share my happiness when I am pleased.

I used to make a large spider out of an old black sock and crochet legs. Then wind a cotton string spider web to put him on. I have always taken fall walks with my kids or others. This just really brings back memories of my second pregnancy. My then two year old son and his daddy raked leaves with me then I fell down and they buried me.

I bet that was a very cute little decoration. Now I wonder how spiders came to mean Fall / halloween? Though they are scary creatures that's for sure. I used to love to rake leaves, i think it is much more rewarding then using a leaf blower, which I don't even think were in existence when I was a little girl. My sister and brother in law have a leaf blower and will most likely use that to gather the leaves off their yard, they have a big back and front yard with many trees, so one can hardly blame them.

Fall is already with us. It is cool in the morning and evening. I love autumn, a favorite season of mine. Just today my family went for a hiking in one of our local scenic spots. We did not get wet because of the cool weather. It is so great a season. Enjoy yourself, SomeCowgirl.

Oh I bet it was very beautiful. There are a few areas around me that are simply gorgeous around this time of year, but I don't believe I'll be able to visit them this year. It'd be a wonderful thing though, but there are still trees around here whose leaves fall and look gorgetous. Now all we can do is hope the winter won't be so harsh, right? Have a good day.

Oh that would be a magical feeling indeed. I see the pictures of many leaves falling and how beautiful they are and can't wait to see that fully here where I am. Hopefully you can vacation to an area that does experience fall and can enjoy the season and it's beautiful scenery!
