Coconut Juice Vs. Coconut Water?

Is there a difference? I mean I just drank a whole can of 16.5 fl ounces of the juice which is actually 90% coconut juice with pieces of coconut in it from the dollar store. I wanted to drink it for my upset tummy, and it seems to be working. It was sweeter than I thought it would be but nothing like coconut milk which is rather too "coconuty" and just awful to me even if I add it to things. I was wondering if coconut water (and not the juice) is very sweet? Should I just check the label cause this juice is only supposed to have 7 g's of sugar and it tastes sweeter than that to me. The other brand in the store had lots more g's. I forgot to check the store the other day when I went in case they had more, I wanted to get some more cans but try it first to see if I liked it first. I think they're probably all out of it by now anyways. Do you like either one? Juice or water from the coconut that is.

Yes, the water is supposed to be very good for you. I have wanted to try it for a long time but it cost like $3. or more for a small container of it in the grocery store so was happy to see it in one of the dollar stores here. I should have picked up several cans at once, but have done that with other stuff and ended up having to throw it all out cause I either didn't use it before the expo date or it was awful. In this case, of course I only bought one can. I try to get the kind without much sugar in it. It seems to be sweet enough anyways. I have tried coconut milk in some recipes and disliked it alot.

That's usually how it goes, you get 1 of it to make sure you like it, and you love it then cant find it again or you buy multiple and you dont like it. I hope you can find it again. I will have to look here to see if I can find it to try it. I've seen the cocounut milk but for a small carton it was $10 - $15 I would buy it for specil special occassions or recipes.

ive never had coconut juice so i cant compare the 2 but i have had coconut water and i really didnt like it. it wasnt sweet its like a watered down juice probably. but i couldnt stand it people seem to love coconut water or hate it. i bet the water has a lower sugar content. i like to get coconut milk so put in my smoothies, but i dont drink it straight up.

I looked at the sugar content of the coconut water in the grocery store today and it said it had 15 g's of sugar, that seems like alot of sugar to me. The juice is still the lowest I have seen so far at 7 g's. Those smoothies must have tasted yummy, with the coconut milk in it. I don't like it much thoigh personally.

ya it just gives a great creaminess to a smoothie, i put it in a pineapple and banana one yumm. im surprised by the sugar! wooah 15g is a lot. if u like ur coconut juice then i would stick with that, does it have some health benefit to it? or also is it low in sodium?

I don't think I would as I don't like coconut. I've heard that it is something you have to get used to but that it is actually pretty good once you do. I think that the juice would have more sugar and be really "from concentrate" as they say whereas the water would have more coconut and water and very little sugar.
I wouldn't know as I don't think I want to ever try it, so I wouldn't look at the label lol.

It really didn't taste like the typical coconut taste that I have had before such as in desserts and such. It was the sweetness that was slightly over the top for me though and it said only 7 g's??! That was hard to believe. I do want more now, I'm actually craving it slightly. I think the next time I get it if they still have anymore left by then I'll dilute it with some water so it doesn't taste as sweet to me at least. The pieces of coconut in it I could have lived without but it was OK.

Check the label. Some may be just flavored and not even the real stuff. Coconut juice is probably your best bet. Good idea to try it and make sure you like it. I got some tea in the bottle once and am still trying to get rid of the last two. They were too sweet.

I was going to mix it with some other tea next time I fix it.

Hi nailteh..for me coconut juice or coconut water is the same but the problem was that when you bought a coconut juice in can its not actually pure coconut juice coz..they put additional preservatives, sugars etc..to make the coconut juice takes longerand there was a limited time for the coconut juice, because usually the coconut juice taste not so sweet it has naturally taste, and i always love to bought a coconut juice in the market eventhough i know its not pure or real coconut juice just i missed the coconut juice way back in Philippines..I remembered 2 days ago i bought 20 pcs. of coconut juice in can, coz me and my husband loves to drink and its good also for urine problem so we used to bought also but one of the cans i forgot to placed in our fridged and the weather was hot..so i tried to drink that cocnut juice but when i opened it eeeeewwww the takes just like the spoiled coconut juice it taste to be like vinegar, there was a sour taste on it..so once you bought the cocnut juice always put in your fridge or i guess much better to bought a fresh coconut you know the one in shells and they would open for you..the taste was really nicer than in can..

I thought so about them being about the same, now that you mention it. It costs alittle more in the grocery stores though, so I tried it from the Dollar Tree instead. Yes they did have some of those extras in it as I read them too, unfortunately. Unless I buy my own coconut and get the water from it myself, which I won't then it won't be 100% pure. But it said 90%, but I'm really second guessing that. I had the juice can in the fridge even before I opened it but in the store the unopened cans are out of the fridge and they seem to be OK that way. Thanks for the heads up about putting them in it though after opening, I don't want it tasting like vinegar and being spoiled, ewwww. I wish the stores here would carry coconuts again like they used to long ago. I don't see them here anymore to my knowledge.

Coconut water has additives in it. Coconut juice has none. Depending on what you read. Here are 2 links with opposing viewpoints. You can decide for yourself. And coconut anything is very good for you. It's considered one of the superfoods. There are so many health benefits to coconut that it's just amazing. www.ehow.com/info_8290993_difference-between-cocont-water-juice.html and www.thekitchn.com/whats-the-difference-coconut-w-140615

Depending on the product and who makes it also. I noticed they can add things in the coconut water like pineapple juice and such as well. Yes, I have liked coconut before in smaller doses, mostly baking products but now I'm interested in the water/juice of it. Thanks for the link!

Pure coconut juice or coconut water is only a little bit sweet but the way you describe the sweetness of your juice i believe it had already been added with sugar. I love coconut juice too for we have plenty of coconut trees around our home when i was still a kid. My father used to advice us however not to drink pure coconut water on an empty stomach and it is always advisable to eat a solid food first before drinking it.

I think coconut water has water added so they can produce and bottle the beverage more cheaply. Also,it has a lighter flavor and goes with more things.
