I know that there are lot of showbiz celebreties turned into politician and some of them are really successful in their new careers. Watching the news the other night, I saw that there are many ceebreties filed their candidacy in different local positions. I also noticed that every year, there are more and more celebrities entering into politics. I know being celebrity is one of their edge but do you think they can also fulfill their duties as politicians? Would you rather prefer to vote them in the upcoming national elections compared to those who are already known in the field of politics? What are your views about showbiz celebrities turned politicians?

I find it funny for some celebrities to be wanting to have a government post in their respective provinces. Election is not a popularity contest and I know for some, they know how popular actors they are and they think that they would surely win. I am not against celebrities who intends of vying a position. It is just a matter of their knowledge with what they are about to face. Are they really aware of what they are doing? Will they be good instruments in making a better environment for their constituents?

You got a point. Yes they should be ready and fully understood the responsibilities in the position they are running. Furthermore, just like what you said, this is not a popularity contest. Once you won the position, it has a great responsibility after the election.

Winning the post doesn't just stop there. They need to prove that they are capable of doing whatever promises they have made.

Yes, they really need to prove that voters are not wrong in choosing them to fit in that position.

For me, we just have to look at the constitution, every one has the right to run for political position for as long as he qualifies with the requirements of the the law to run for it.
So I think we should not limit our views on the political families established already. If we think they deserve to get the seat then vote for him/her not her status in life or popularity in your community.
I always believe that everybody should be given the chance if the person is capable of contributing something to their communities. But if the candidate is obviously running only for the position and the money then better stay away from it and choose the best that you think could help.

You are right, everyone of us are open to file candidacy in any position. But us voters should really think carefully who are we goign to choose as our next leaders. Sometimes, publicity or being celebrity has already an advantage since they are known by many. But I think, we should really look if they have the capability in ruling our community.

If the majority will still choose them because they want to, we cannot change their mind since we are independent when it comes to voting.

I think the mere fact that they're filing for something that they have no idea on is something that we should be thinking about. I don't mean to discriminate but these are just puppets-in-the-making who'll just be there as puppets waiting for someone to pay them to act.
I strongly suggest that the people vote not because of stardom but because the person could actually do something (or have without being paid or publicized).
Time to re-think our voting ways because it hasn't done us much good. I would also like to suggest that the government change its policies to not allow people not paying taxes to vote (or should only have half point) because they're not the ones who have to take on the burden of paying taxes in the first place.
Have a great mylot experience ahead!

I think voters should really think of this one. We should vote candidates that you find really doing somthing to our community and not just becuase they are popular. However, sometimes, popularity really does celebrities to win in the elections.

Yeah there are lots of celebrities who are running in politics now.
I am not against those celebrities as long as they do well and responsible enough to serve the public. Honest enough and wont do anything bad during their terms like corruption or over use of power.
Hope they serve well and good luck to them.

I think if they have really the capable to run for that position, why not. But I just hope that voters will carefully think whos the one theya re going to vote. Not just because they are celebrities, they will choose them. We really need to vote wisely since we are choosing the one that will lead us.

Their popularity is one reason why these celebrities are turning to politics. They know that they have very good chances of winning. However, people have also become intelligent voters. Not all actors and actresses manage to win like Cesar Montano, Edu Manzano and some others. Many actors also managed to make good with their elective positions like Vilma Santos, Herbert Bautista and Isko Moreno to name a few. Inspite of being showbiz personalities they earned the respect of the people including their peers. I am also willing to vote for a showbiz celebrity provided he or she is qualified for the position. I am also disillusioned with other new candidates especially those perceived to be creating political dynasties. But that is politics in the country, they sure know where the money is.

yes, their popularity makes a great factor in winning. But I think the voters must really think that they are really capable in running and managing their position. Just like what you said, some celebrities are really successful because tehya re being elected again by the voters since they really see that they are sincere in the position they took.

Maybe they are just trying to help... Nothing to say... But the worst I think is the family dynasty in a place... It's the worst....

I think yes, if they have really the intention to help, why not. However, they must be ready for the said position they are running for. I think you aare also correct, political or family dynasty still have the factor in this issue.
