Hello friends...! For last few days, I have been observing that my computer becomes solw when I am working on internet. In fact it is not routine but many times it so happens that initially it is fast enough and when I am working on it, suddenly it becomes too slow causing me lot of troubles.
I was told to restart the computer and I did it but the same thing is repeated many times. If someone here can guide me in this matter it will be a great help for me.
Thanks in advance...!

Firstly, check the size of your anti-virus softwares. They usually take up too much space and memory when running so do keep an eye on that.
Second, It might be some softwares you use, if there are too many, uninstall softwares you don't need anymore. They also take up memory and causes the system to become unstable and the freezes.
Now third, Try running the Disk Defragmenter on your computer's system tools. It will help your computer arrange the files accdg to your usage so it will operate faster.
I do hope these answers can help.

Thanks for the suggestion friend. I have installed 'Net Protector' anti virus software. I do not think that it has taken up too much of memory. However, I will check it at once.
Secondly I do not use too many softwares as my use of computer is limited to internet surfing and even I do not down load too many things as my broad band connection down load is limited.
I would like to run Dist Dfragmenter as mentioned by you, however I do not have any idea about it. If you can guide me little more, it will of great help for me.
Thanks again. Have a nice time.

There are many reasons for a computer to run slow so it is a difficult question to answer accurately. The first thing to ascertain is whether runs slowly without the internet in use, in which case you are possibly running too many programs in the background. When you install a new program it sets itself for start up, which means it runs in the background ready for use. You can check these by typing msconfig into the Run dialogue box and selecting the Startup tab in the window that opens.
If it is only the internet then I assume your are using a wireless connection. Some of the bandwidth could be taken up if the computer is set to automatically download updates, but it should be that significant. I would endure that the router is password protected to avoid anyone else using it. Failing this there may be a problem with your router or network adapter, so you could try resetting them.
A last resort would be to use system restore, assuming that you are using windows, to turn the system back to a time before you noticed this problem. You may even have malware on your computer, which is a form of illicit downloaded program and would utilise some of the system resources.

good day deserve40,
with reference to your post, perhaps it is not really the internet that causes the slow down of your computer. try to check some of the programs that running on your system. maybe you have downloaded some softwares or running some softwares that somehow affect the processing or rebooting of your computer system. as far as i know, internet doesn't have anything to do to the speed and performance of the computer. anyway, hope this will somehow help you to configure it out.

I meant the same thing when I said that internet connection becomes slower. I have found that initially when I am surfing, the sites load quite quickly and then suddenly the loadig becomes slower and slower till it gets irratatingly slower and I have to shut down the computer.
I will check the programs that are running on my computer and also check the sites, it is quite possible that I am not getting desired speed because I have two or more sites open and may be one of them is causing the slowing down of my computer.
Thanks for your suggestion. Have a nice time...!

Hi airasheila, is there any way to find out which software or softwares are responsible for this undesired slowing. I also often face the same problem.

Hi,
Viruses and trojans often share in the processing speed of the system resulting to slower performance. A shared bandwith can also be the culprit as in an open Wi-Fi connections where the neighbors can connect through your wireless server for free. You should check them out.

Well, that is quite possible thing with me. My antivirus is not working at present and so I have to get it renewed and so viruses and trojans may be causing the slow down of the computer. I do not have We-Fi connection and so there is no chance that anyone can share bandwith.
I will try to get my antivirus software installed at the earlies possible and hope that then the problem will be solved. Thanks for your suggestion. Have a nice time...!

I use an anti virus device for my computer. It is 'Quick Heal'. It is a reputed anti virus device. So it can be easily assumed that viruses and trojans are not causes behind in case of my computer. Moreover, I do not use Wi-Fi connections, rather, I have broadband connection for the Internet. So what might be cause behind for slow running of the Internet in my case? Can you throw light on it?

Try this:
First, check on your anti-virus software - some anti-virus softwares have too much memory, it ends up taking up the memory space when the computer processes.
Second, check any other softwares you installed, it might be the problem. Like some softwares we download on the net, it might be a malware or something like that. Uninstall those you don't need anymore.
Third, try running your Disk Defragmenter on your PC's system tools. It helps the computer arrange fragmented files. It arranges the computer accdg. to how you use (like the programs, files etc you frequently use)so it opens faster the next time you open them.
I do hope these can answer your questions and problem.
