They take over most of the site and social media accounts of president aquino. They totaly against in the approved law it's just their a part of the law that they dont like. The libel part, some says that it conflicts the freedom of speech. In a simple comment, like, article, post, tweet and etc. you will be in jailed. How was that? Are you pro or anti?

Hi Tinetine, As for me, I am not an anti nor a pro cybercrime law. In my opinion, people put too much deal with it for several reasons. However, if you analyze it, this is not something that we should put too much deal. In a legal point of view, a part of the "libel clause" should be amended because it is in conflict of a current libel law under the Revised Penal Code. But other than that, nothing to debate on. In a moral or social point view, I do not think and consider it as against freedom of speech. People just think freedom of speech and expression is violated because we thought everything we say is "OK". Freedom of speech can be exercised in a different platform and not just in the internet. Sometimes, we do not realize that we talk much about other people than ourselves. There are also times that issues to be discussed in private are spread in the web by people who have no business on said issue. If you post something in the net with malice, that is irresponsible netizen. However, if you have a good intent to what you post online - you are a responsible netizen. Where do you belong? There are some people misinterprets this law merely because of what they just read or hear over the net or from the influence of critics. We do not realize the benefits. Besides, if we are all disciplined and responsible netizens, we do not need this law. However, the reverse is more apparent. Moreover, people are alarmed to this law and threatened. Why? Simple because we do not want our wrong doings to be stopped. If you are a responsible netizen and you think you are not meddling on other people's issues, then you have nothing to be afraid of. But, if you have a criminal mind, you want to do against what is right and proper, you hate cybercrime law. To put this in summary, we must learn to be more sensitive and kind. Whatever you say or do in the web is a reflection of how you think and who you are. You will not be put to jail if you are not doing something wrong against others.

You are right, LK....I have my own experience on cyberbullying and cyberharassing before. It came to a point that I am being stalked. Worse, I have no idea who he or she is. My work was affected and even emotionally affected. I tried to stop it by requesting the web hosting provider to give me information who was the blogger or at least block the blog, but the management cannot just do so without any court order or police complaint. Hence, I have no recourse then because we have no law that serves as my protection. ...Well, at least now, we have such thing....Probably, the person who had bullied and harassed me is one of those being threatened with this law. Too bad, they do not have a happy life.

I'm not pro nor anti cybercrime law but in my own opinion this new law prevents cyber-bullying and unethical use of the internet well, that's good. The bad side of this is you can be sued for a libel case whenever you speak against someone and that's a violation of freedom of speech.

I cannot really see any reason wherein speaking against anyone would be tolerable or ethical. I completely agree with this law for most of the people in the social networking sites are really abusing it in such a way that is very unhealthy.

Hello tinetine, I think most people are terribly reacting on this manner with out reading and trying to understand the law first. am just annoyed the way hackers are doing this, maybe they should get arrested first for being too OA. instead of them protecting government sites from Chinese hackers, their doing themselves now which makes them unrealiable.

I totally agree with letran. As for me, I think people are just over reacting due to some alterations of the said law committed by people who wants to have attention. It is pretty dominant here in our country that most people just tend to listen from their friends rather than reading the facts and deciding it for themselves.

I don't think it conflicts the freedom of speech, because the freedom must based on the legal ownership or, for example, you can burn the flag to express your opinion, so long as you own the flag, but you can't burn the flag belong to others, that's illegal. Cyber crime law is same condition.

I agree with some of the provisions, but what is so chilling and alarming is that it is also called electronic martial law, never again and the DOJ has the function to issue an order to restrict or block access to computer data which obviously a violation of some of our constitutional rights. Hope they can make this law acceptable and justifiable for us, netizens. The world is watching and looking forward to make things more clearer, to avoid division and any chaotic actions. Thanks

yes it has been the talk of the town today specially here on the Internet. My opinion is that this law has a lot of pros actually. It can protect you or me. For me only the libel section is having a problem as they say this would zip us from our freedom of speech. Also add the section 19 of cybercrime prevention act which is the "notorious take-down provision" which empowers the DOJ to restrict or block access to computer data was inserted.

This new law,is really on trend.. if this law will be fully implemented, this would create impact on the freedom of speech especially in our country, most people express their ideas, feelings on the net and all social-networking sites. I am starting to read this law, which I download in the internet. I guess there are some parts which is really good for us, cyber-crime in our country is increasing so need something that could stop this..I think we just need to follow understand the law and make some audit on some guidelines.
