Hi ,
This is my 1st post at mylot :-) I just opened a paypal premium account. I was under the impression , that opening a paypal account is free. But once I entered the debit card details , Rs 52 was deducted from my account . Moreover , it shows , that my account is limited and cannot be used to receive any money. Add PAN , bank and purpose code . I have already added a PAN during my registration. So , why have they charged 52 rs and kept my account limited :-(
I have one more dumb query . My bank account name is , Gaurav.S , i just gave , Gaurav as 1st name and 'S' as my last name during paypal registration. Is this correct ? Thanks in advance :-)

Opening a Paypal account is free. A certain amount is deducted from your account for verification purposes. Once verified, they will give back the amount taken from you. Also, the name you gave fro your Paypal account should be the same name that appears on the bank information that you have provided.

My verification was going like this...
I added a credit card. PayPal has removed a small amount of money and left the code number in the bank. Entry of that code, account was verified. PayPal returned the same amount back to my credit card.

Welcome to myLot. Maybe you were charged since you opened a premier account. I've been a member for years and have never had any charges. I don't, however, do mega transactions either so never go over my limit of receiving amounts of over $500 each month. What I do is have the various sites send money to my PayPal account, once I receive the notification I simply transfer it to my checking account. Then I can use the cash for whatever I want or need. I have no idea what PAN means, sorry. Good luck and hope you get this straightened out soon.

Hi curiouser, now I am confused what is your name. Is it Gaurav or sreenivasan? In south India some people use initials in front the name.Myself used to write my name as C.A.Jose. But this is wrong. It should be placed after the name as jose CA. This is the short form of jose, son of chukkiri Anthony. So I am using in my bank account as jose CA. Here jose stands for first name and CA stands for last name. Then only forms can be filled properly.

The money deducted is taken for the verification process only, you can confirm that by contacting paypal resolution center.
For the name use the name that is in the bank account at the paypal and you won't get any problem

I think I know what happened. I think it is just for verification purposes, but they will return the money as soon as your account has already been fully verified. If not, the best thing that you can do is contact paypal's customer support. I am sure they will be able to answer all of your questions.

I don't know exactly, but may be you opened a 'Premium' account Rs.52 might have been charged. Or to verify whether it's your debit card that transaction might have been done.
Even if you add your PAN and bank details, they will cross-check with respective department and bank. Until then your account will be limited.
I don't think the initial will be a problem.

Paypal didn't charge you, friend. That is only a verification purposes and they bring it back into your paypal the amount they charge with you. So, nothing to worry about the charges that you said...
Once you confirm and verify your credit card. Paypal return the amount they charge with you...but you see the amount deposited into your paypal account.

When I first signed up to PayPal, I added a debit card because I wanted to use it to make payments.
I had two small payments taken out to verify my account, and was told they would be debited from my card when I signed up. However, they were later refunded.
Some of the other online payment services do the same thing.

Yeah but what was there in PAN. Is the same in bank nae you stated here? My paypal account is free and they never charged me anything. I think they have to inform you before deducting the money....

The name in my PAN is Srinivasan Gaurav , whereas , all my certificates and verification documents and ank accounts have the name Gaurav.S . So , for paypal , I gave my first name as Gaurav and my last name as only 'S'

i think it is the payment used to verify or confirm your card. they will just return the amount to your paypal once verification is done. when did you add the details of your debit card and ask for confirmation? if you just did it, just wait few days and you can get a paypal code, you must insert this code next to the card where it says enter the code, then that is the time your account is truly verified and you can recieve or withdraw money from paypal to your bank account. if your name matches the bank account name, i think that is acceptable. but you should put your complete first and last name on profile details.
