area. as it is only limited for example to UK or to US. i was planning to watch some television shows on my computer with the site called tvcatchup.com. but it is just sad that the site is no available for non UK residents. so it is just that i can't sign up on their sign up. and that the TV is for free. so anyway, i just hope that in my country we would have same kind of service so that i can watch the television shows that i have failed to watch on time.

We can't really blame the networks because they really implement copyrights. And I think there are country restrictions because some of their shows will be carried over by your local networks. So that is why they will not let you watch it in other countries where they have distributors for the show.

I agree with you entirely aabuda, and this is exactly why the restrictions apply. The company only acquires the right to transmit in a given area.
However this does not stop it being frustrating, especially if someone has spent quite a bit of time tracking down a source for a certain show or television program.

I know exactly what you are feeling because despite having few problems in this respect I have still encountered it. I live in the United Kingdom and use BBC iplayer to watch television programmes online or download them for future viewing.
Earlier this year I was in Portugal, and since I always take my laptop with me it seemed that it would be convenient to watch a programme in the evening. It may be pretty naïve of me but I expected to have no problems. However, when I connected to the BBC website I was informed that this program was not available in my area. I had not allowed for the fact that the IP address that I was using would show me as being in Portugal and therefore I did not qualify.
It was not a big deal because I simply watched one of the movies that I had on the laptop, but it certainly can be frustrating.

I sometimes forget just how many things are not available online in certain areas of the world. I know that my boyfriend had run into that sometimes when he lived abroad, but I've never had to deal with it, because I've always lived in the States.
If I want to catch up on a show, I usually have numerous options for doing so. The only real exception would be programming shown on HBO (True Blood!); then, I have to wait until the season is available on DVD and catch up that way.
