I have some good quality raw peanuts which have been in my kitchen cupboard for some time. I’m thinking to fry them as snacks. It should be a simple enough process even for someone with a little cooking experience like me. I hope there are some myLotters here who have prepared fried peanuts before and can give me good advice to get the best results. Do I need to soak the raw peanuts in salty water first? Or is it better to throw the raw peanuts straight away into the heated-up oil and season the peanuts after they are fried?

This is the first time I've heard of such a thing as frying peanuts, and I like it! Are they special peanuts or do you just take any store bought peanuts and fry them? What's it like? Crispy or something?

Fried peanuts are delicious... Most ready-to-eat ones here are roasted. If I go to some Asian shops, I might find some fried peanuts; but the best I've tasted are homemade ones which are really crispy...

I'd really try the method with soaking them into salty water first. Thanks for reminding me to dry them before frying. With my poor knowledge of cooking, I'd probably just throw them straight away into the hot oil and watch it spatter every where...

Which one you have mean? Without inner skin or with inner skin? For those without skin, usually we not use salt but more to white onion. For those with inner skin, there is no need to add anything. Salt is add after it get fried, without water. Thats usually we do in here.

I'm happy you're here... A friend made me some kacang goreng when I lived in Indonesia, and it was the best fried peanuts I've ever tasted... I have those without the inner skin. So you're saying it is better not to use salt? And by 'white onion', did you mean bawang putih or garlic? I was thinking to use garlic powder as seasoning too... So no need to pre-soak the peanuts in salty water, is that correct?

Good to hear that u want to try something new with the peanuts. Well although i have never tried having peanuts but i have seen people soaking the peanuts in the salty water as it would make it dry and then u can fry them to a good temperature and color and have it as a snack. What say?

My son checked on the internet, and he said he did not see anywhere that say we have to immerse the peanuts in salty water first. But I have a feeling you are probably right also. Maybe I'll make two batches and try both methods. We'll see which one comes out better, I'd say...
