With just a bite of a dengue carrier mosquito and say goodbye forever!!! "Dengue"- an acute viral infection characterized by fever and one of the most common borne-mosquito diseases that can cause death if not treated asap... This afternoon, just got out from the hospital after my 5-year old son was treated from dengue, though im bit disappointed, still i'm thankful to God for not letting anything bad happen and get worst...Im just wondering is there any safe place to go to avoid this viruses that can easily take our lives? How bout those less fortunate people whom can't afford the medications/hospitalization and the long process of dengue treatment? I just hope our government here take it more seriously on making program on prevention and controlling, thus many are sufferings out of it.

It is certainly alarming that one small creature can cause such serious problems. We are always encouraged to eliminate the breeding grounds of these pests to help protect ourselves. In some countries the communities spray insecticides but that is not always healthy either. I am so sorry your child has dengue, and I am glad he has been treated.

We have to see that water is not allowed to stagnate near our house. Also garbage should be removed and we should clean the house properly. In this case the child has been treated well and has recovered. Mosquito repellent -- take a glass of water -- put two pieces of camphor in it and keep it open in a corner of the room. If the room is big then keep in two corners. also use mosquito repellents --not coil but liquid.

Thank you very much for that idea...by the way our place is on the 20th floor and impossible to be reach by a carrier mosquito, and as explained to us, my son got it from outside, probably near their school.

I've done many informative article, discussion and tips on how to prevent mosquito from spreading diseases. I know government also do their job but I think people are also more responsible in doing this.

I'm very sorry to read your son went through that. Also, I'm glad your son has been successfully treated. I live in the US. I don't think we have to worry about viruses from mosquito vectors. Still, our city have insecticides sprayed on the grassy areas along the sides of the road to keep the mosquito population down. I like bats because they eat mosquitoes. I see them out at night and I'm thankful that they do a good job hunting and eating mosquito pests.

They say that Goldenseal (hydrastis canadensis) helps to get rid of Dengue Fever. Here is a link www.earthclinic.com/CURES/dengue.html I'm glad your son is alright. That's a terrible thing for a kid to go through. There are many natural herbs that work as good, sometimes better, than traditional medicine.

Fortunatly we don`t have dengue in our country. We used to have malaria in the north, but swamps were made dry and the mosquitoes disappeared. I read here of a homemade trap for mosquitoes. You should check it. It is the mosquito that must be attacked.

I am afraid for my little son too. The dengue virus had mutated to a much deadly one and the symptoms now is less manifested unless the condition is worst. Our manger's son is at the hospital right now fighting the virus. We are praying that he will be healed soon. I have known herbal plants that does help to increase the platelet count so I recommend it to him. I always lose my mind when my son has fever because of this dengue virus. I am just lucky he has a strong resistance. That's one solution, to boost the immune system of the people so to fight that virus. Take vitamin C everyday and make your blood healthy.

You are from philipines. mosquitoes are there more as in India because the climate prevalent is more suitable for them. we have to use mosquito repellent. In spite of that we will get malaria, dengue fevers. We have to take treatment immediately. I am happy you child was treated early and has recovered. take care. Governments in developing countries like philipines cannot afford to spend more and it is for us to take precautions to see that we are not exposing to mosquito bites.

Good to know that your son is in better condition now. You are very lucky to have recognized the symptoms of Dengue and rush your kid to hospital. Other victims of dengue just lost their life without even knowing that they have gone into dengue. Make sure that your surroundings are free of stagnant water where mosquitoes always lives. My prayers goes to your son, hope he gets better soon.
