Reading to some people isn't anything

I love to read. I own THOUSANDS of books - really. I went and bought 4 more on Tuesday (10-2-12 or 2-10-12 or even 2012-10-2 depending on where you live) and have already finished one of them. Two of them were released on that day - so you might be able to figure out what they are... at least narrow them down a bit. Especially if you can figure out my favorite genre of books...

I love reading, and I think that more people should be doing it in their spare time. I admit that I stopped reading novels for a couple of years while I was doing my degree as I felt as though if I had spare time to read I should be reading something that was to do with my course, so I did that. Now that I have finished, and am learning that reading can be fun again, I am having a great time finding new books that I am able to read, and I like to discuss these books with other people so that they can find something that they enjoy too.

i love to read about events in history. i enjoy these because it makes me feel like i am part of these events. right now i am reading a book on the life of Edward R. Murrow who was a great American reporter. it is one of those riveting books that you cannot put down. the other book i am reading is about the Halifax Explosion and is written by a great Canadian author by the name of Hugh McLennan. i read this book on the bus as the book on Edward R. Murrow is much too big to schlep around with me.

Hi there. I agree with you. Reading, really, is a wonderful way to spent your time. Still there are some people who don't enjoy it. It, obviously, differs from person to person. Different people have different interests in life. I, myself, am a voracious reader. Life without books is something I can't even dream of. And ya, I do make a list of all the new books I plan to buy before I go out shopping for them.

I love to read and read a lot of different subjects. I like to read poetry, short stories, novels, etc. The one thing I'm not particularly fond of is romance novels. I have a lot of horror books (Steven King, Dean Koontz, Robin Cook, etc. I also have a lot of law books, true crime. I used to have several thousand books, but due to space issues I had to get rid of a lot of them. I still have a lot of books though, math books,biology, chemistry, psychology, etc. My husband told me I needed to sale my school books, but I told him I weren't selling my law books. At one time I was reading three and four paperbacks a day,(I'm a fast reader)but now I don't really have the time to read as much as I did. Most of my reading now is schoolbooks, when I'm doing my home work. Reading is fun. It can be educational and can also be a means to temporarily escape the rigors of everyday life. Books help relieve stress. People that don't like to read can't understand the attraction the rest of us have for books. Happy reading everyone.

Hey thanks a ton for sharing the discussion. Well yes there are some people who find solace in reading the books as they get a feeling of warmth after reading them and they feel like reading them always throughout their lives. Reading is of course a good habit that helps u learn new things everyday and does help a lot to get many changes in you. They are always willing to read new books and grab the latest arrivals in the stores which speaks of their love for reading books. What say?
