In defense of negative thinking..

I was told everything is good in moderation. Therefore, it should apply to positive thinking also I suppose. Right? One way to do that would be include some negative thinking.. Here are a few positive things I noticed about negative thinking. a. You actually get bored of your negative thoughts, but you cant get bored of positive thoughts. Seriously..it happens. b. You are unlikely to make major mistakes because you are not likely to do much, right? c. You are spared the headaches of large scale planning your positive attitude could have brought on, like cleaning home, managing the salaries of personnel, planning foreign trips where you can come down with foreign fevers and have fewer visitors at the hospital than you'd normally have back home. You'd feel so unpopular!!! d. Nobody would come to you for help so you can afford to laze around in front of the television set - FOREVER. e. You would just have to ask for help, and people would feel so good trying to help you so they would be competing to help you. These are just a few things I noticed. And right now, I am feeling too lazy to write the rest. But I would love to hear your thoughts on my original quotation "negative thinking is not so bad after all".

I believe in 'everything is good in moderation'. Even too much of something good can lead to disaster; take water, as an example... So yes, too much of positive thinking will need its negative pair to keep it good.

A correction - she is not learning by holding that free course... she already has one candidate ready to learn and join her course

Yeah, you're actually leaning more towards the negative than me by holding a free course on it also...

I would add - There is no good without the evil or even... there is nothing positive without the negative. Both have to, and will co-exist.

Oh yes sid.. Like we get up in the morning and brush our teeth.. We brush with negative thought that if we dont brush our teeth would get spoilt. And we feel so positive after we finish brushing that our teeth wont get spoilt. Right? Negative thinking is the foundation of all positive stuff we do, why do we look down upon it..

A not much sensible quote (as usual) from me during my college days - Lions and Tigers dont brush their teeth still they can feast on raw meat even when they are aged [that doesnt mean I dont brush my teeth...] Okay now to serious stuff... the ancestors of ours (animals) do not have any negative or positive thoughts... and they do things that they want to and when they want to... I think some society stuff or even the religion stuff is responsible for our outlook towards the positive and negative feelings or vibes. maybe I am wrong but I do think such at times

You are so positive of negative thinking. Though it is a humor but reflects the human nature.

Oh I am..as I was telling somebody else..negative thinking is natural, and everything natural is so healthy, so prudence, carefulness, planning, realism, pragmatism are good qualities..if they are good qualities how can they be negative? In contrast, we gamble, and say..I think positive my shares will hit the roof (dont I want that), but the dirty positive thinking doesnt do it..even if I need that money really bad..lol

I guess everything comes in pairs. The question is: Do they have equal weight of importance or one should be heavier than the other?

look before you leap - opportunity knocks only once. many hands make light work - too many cooks spoil the broth. birds of a feather flock together - opposites attract.

Yes its true that negative thinking always bored us. And sometimes it the reason for depression. Sometimes when we were alone then negative thinking comes in our mind and tortures us. Sometimes when any important work does not complete then negative thinking frustrating us. So I want to say there is only one way to avoid from these situation is always thinking positive. And never feel sad. And loneliness is also a big factor for this.

hi vandy my thoughts are its postively negative and I am negatively positive, lol to me its easier to think positive as I feel much happier not listening to gloom and doom. I seem to be able to rise above small irritations if I feel positive and act positive too. much negatism seems to come from just' pure cussed laziness.Nope I will stick to more positive wa ys lol lol

I didnt think laziness was resulted in negative thinking...but if you say so... I prefer to be called realistic, grounded, pragmatic, prudent, ..you know the qualities that do not go very well with being too positive..lol

Nice observation, but I am one person who always wants to think positive. However, we can't help but look at the negative side in some situations like when I'm riding a boat or taking a plane (very rare). I always think of the negative when I am travelling whether by sea, air, or land. My mind is always thinking about accidents and I am always watching out for exits and life vests and life jackets. LOL

i would totally agree on that fact,if negative can exist positive can also exist, but one must prioritise over another and choose only the best

I think thinking negative has fewer disadvantages than thinking positive..
