I can clearly see the lack of sporting spirit missing among the players..

Hey guys, it is pretty disappointing to see how players are loosing out the sporting spirit and the passion for winning games. I have numerous examples to prove this. This was already demonstrated during the Olympics when several matches were lost knowingly in the group stages of Badminton so as to avoid clashing with the tough teams ahead. The recent shameless defeat of Aussies at the hands of Pakistan in the Super 8 matches of T20 world cup is enough to prove what i am trying to say. Shame to all those players who have these feelings. That day is not far away when there will be a big downfall in their career. yesterday's defeat of Aussies in the semis was also the perfect example of this. What are your thoughts regarding this? Please share your comments!

I could go on and on about this topic. On the Today show this morning, they interviewed a speed skater who tampered with the skates of one of his opponents just to give himself the advantage in the race. There are teams from various sports who deliberately lose a game or shave points because of bets and things like that. I know of players and whole teams who go very heavy with the steroids just so that they could bulk up - illegally I might add. There is an NFL team and an MLB team that I'm thinking about in particular. Coaches and players, especially in the violent, contact sports, deliberately try to hurt the opponents and knock them out of the game. One NFL team was supposedly in some pretty hot water because of this. It's spreading like a bad disease across the whole board. Every time I look, there's something very fishy going on that just is not right. I used to be a fan of sports. But quite frankly I'm disgusted with the nonesense that goes on all the time. There's no end in sight. The only sports I enjoy are the ones that I participate in for recreation.

Hey thanks a ton for your response and for the detailed description of various such things happening in different sports. i thought until now only Cricket and Badminton were plagued by this thing. It is absolutely shocking for me to discover that lack of sportsmanship has entered into the minds of players of other sports also so much so that they can go to any extent to see themselves winning only. It is very sick and this is surely going to take off the sheen from the sports and gradually we all would loose our respect and interest for sports. What say?

You are so welcome. I know for certain that I have lost my respct and interest in sports. Many people are quite a bit more forgiving. My patience is all but gone. More and more I see that the world of sports is made up of greedy, money hungry, angry and downright violent people. Just a few minutes ago I was reading about several injuries in the U.S.A. nfl. These injuries are quite serious and they just keep going on and on. And it's getting worse and worse every year. One American football player on one team was fined around 5 or 6 weeks in a row last year because he launches himself like a missle to attack his apponent. That whole team is known for being excessively violent like that. I follow sports but not in the conventional way like a typical fan would. I look for all that's wrong, then I make a little noise, write about it, like here on myLot then I get on with life and the things that are really important. Stay tuned, there's more to come.

Hey thanks a ton for your response. Well yes u are very much correct, due to the ongoing spot fixing allegations, match fixing, throwing away the matches, etc, people are eventually loosing out their interest in the sports. They are no longer taking interest in them and are only watching them for pleasure and entertainment and nothing else. It was pretty much disappointing to know about the American team that u discussed earlier which is a clear example of lack of sportsman spirit. What say?

hey, that is rite. I'm not crazy for sports. and honestly I do not like it when govt spends millions for sports. It is not worth. and these players are not at all interested in the job that they do. all they want is fame and money. government must focus on better things like poverty, poor roads, unemployment. why does 1 player need 1 million RS to play just 1 match !!

Thanks a ton for your response. I think it would be wrong to say that sports should not be encouraged with the monetary support by the Govt but then in my view the money that is being spent in sports should also be spent equally in other fields that u have spent. This will keep a healthy balance between each strata of a country. Besides even though millions of money is being spent on the development of the sports the amount and level of competition that should be derived from them is not adequate.

I think that with football (soccer for those in the US!)there is far too much money in the players wage packets. They have lost sight of the game and, I think, are de-motivated. After all, if you are on over £100,000 per month -or even week!-then why bother to chase a leather ball around with any conviction? I am also very sceptical about match fixing across all sports.I like to do sports trading and have picked up some very unusual results and behaviour with increasing frequency. It seems that many sports 'stars' can't get enough money-however ill-gotten their gains are.

Hey thanks a ton for your response. Well it very disappointing to hear about the way things have turned out to be in the soccer as well. Yes money has definitely played its part by diverting the minds of the players. When they can get money no matter if they win or loose, why should they bother about the results of the match. This is present in their mind and that is the reason why they are playing half heartedly these days. What say?
