Hi mylotters, I am just asking you a question with small doubt. After how many responses will you mark the best response. Earlier, I used to mark if I used to get 2 to 3 responses but after marking I stopped receiving responses. But later I used to wait many responses to receive. What about you mylotters?

Many people don't log into myLot every day, indeed some only at week-ends, and this is one of the reasons why myLot, in the FAQs, tell us to wait at least one week before awarding the Best Response.
As it does not create any earnings either for the user who awards it or for the onme that receives it, there is no rush at all.
I have some discussions with pages and pages of responses where there is more than one that is worthy of it but I have not awarded one at all even though more than a year has passed.

Sometimes I do set off with the intent of awarding some but then I have to five up as there are so many deserving it
I no longer receive the notifier when I receive a BR and I feel bad about not thnking immediately. Usuallly I see that I received one a long time afterwards when I go back to add something else

what's really the significant of choosing the best response?

There are no extra earnings when we receive a Best Response but it is certainly a good feeling to receive it

Some people go to a textile shop. go to one or two counters -- ask the shop keeper to display a few designs-- they select one among them and go home.
some people start in the morning after breakfast -- go to one shop --go to all the counters -- ask the shopkeeper display all the items -- not selecting --return back to home for lunch, take nap--start again in the evening go to the same shop or another shop --go round and round and then select one.
Same way some of us select best response early. some of us select after so many months and years. Now I am in the category of people selecting after a few months. In the beginning i use to decide within a week. Now probably more work--more discussions and it takes more time/
take your own time and decide. Once you decide you should not feel i may get another good response after this.
selecting of best response --yes sometimes it prompts people not to respond.

I would wait at least until it seems that the responses have stopped, or until they appear to have slowed down. The person making the best response may not respond to your discussion so soon, so making such an early choice increases the chance of a much better response being submitted too late.
There is no real frame that you can apply to this, but naturally it is only fair to allow most people to post prior to making such a decision.

That seems a pretty good approach. If you consider a response to be a very worthwhile one then marking it as a best response makes sense.
Also, as sunny5u has said, there is no right or wrong in this. We all have different opinions and it is ultimately our own opinion that matters.

Hi sunny! I don't follow any pattern as to when i would award the best response to those who make response to my discussion. Sometimes, it would take me several days but there are times also that it would take weeks before I could choose a best response.

Aries:
many weeks --no problem. There are people having arrears in terms of number of years. you seem to be doing well. sunny you have your own way of deciding things. now that you started this discussion--i will select for a few of my discussions today.

I never mark a best response. I appreciate all of my responders, and I cannot really judge that. People will continue to respond as long as the discussion is available. If you do mark your best response then a better one comes later, what do you do? There really is a good feeling one gets when he or she is the best responder, but I would not want to discourage other responders by making such a choice.

hi sunny5u I go by time not responses as I want all my friends to
be able to see my discussion before I rush to give a b r. I wait one week to a month at times to allow more people time tp respond as they wish.some people here will not bother responding if the
BR is already given which to me shows the br means more than the
discussion or the my lotter making it.I refuse to be that petty as if I enjoy the discussion I will respond to it no matter if there are only 2 or 50 responses.to me a br is nice to get but an interesting discussions is more exciting to me.

I don't like to make best responses too quickly. I like to take the time to read the reponses and take in what is said. You knever know when that ine repsonse in going to hit you.

I wait until the discussion is four weeks old. In fact, I go to my "unresolved" tab and choose a best response from all my discussions older than four weeks BEFORE I start any new discussions!

Oh, I try to start up to three discussions a day (except on Sabbath, when I let myself post as many or as few as I feel like: one after I check if any unresolved discussions need me to choose a BR, one after I finish responding to my email-notifications, and one after I've responded to the whole first page of my started discussions.
