On Cheering Up

Sometimes we just need a little pick me up to set our days right. There was one morning when I woke up in a bad mood. There was a lot to do for school and I had slept late because of work. I wanted to just stay at home and rest because I felt really tired but I couldn't because of school stuff to do. I was waiting for a tricycle (I'm from the Philippines, think of something like a taxi, but it uses a motorcyle with a roofed sidecar for mental representation. hihi!) and got in on the first one that came. After a few minutes, a lady and her little boy decided to take the ride with me. I normally don't like people doing this because it can get cramped but they looked like they were in a hurry and I saw the adorable little boy so it felt okay to let them in. I bet I had a sulky face on but for some unknown reason, the boy gently and consciously reached up to my face while smiling. His touch was warm and very gentle and I knew he was doing it on purpose because of the care he exerted and how he looked into my eyes. He was about two years old. The mom said he should stop because I was a stranger after all, but she was also smiling while she said so. I guess she just felt shy that her kid was behaving that way. The boy took his hand away but I was already smiling because of that little gesture he did. Not five seconds have passed and I was still smiling when he held my face again, an even bigger smile on his. I swear I wanted to just hold the kid close to me for making my day. He instantly took all the gloom away and silently reminded me that everything was going to be okay. :)

Your discussion reminds me that we should always stay optimistic. Despite of stress, still we should be optimistic, sometimes bad mood can affect our day. I think that little boy is an angel of disguise because he is the one who took away your stress and bad mood. When I see some small child, they usually stare at me and then cry, I do not know why, hehehe Anyway, thanks for sharing your experiences. It is really nice. Happy mylotting!

Aww this is really adorable. Children can often give the most caring gestures even if they don't realize it. I'm glad that he could help you feel better that day, it was meant to be!

We as adults should remember little acts that will cheer each other up. Somehow we just tend to forget as we get older. The little things don't cross our mind any more. We think we need huge leaps and bounds for people.

Yes, sometimes the most simple acts of kindness is more than enough to touch people's hearts. Being around children constantly reminds me of how simple joys can really make a positive change to our days. :)

Hi, I remember small children always do that to me, even children of strangers. I still have to see a child that shy away from my presence, maybe its the special feeling I have for small children all over. There are times that the mother of father are not even aware of the silent messages we exchange by the look and secret smile we share. Children do have a special way of banishing away the gloom that follow us everywhere specially during rainy days and Mondays.

Wow, children must like your presence, aura or something. I read somewhere that children see aura and are so at ease with people whose auras they like. :) I think I'm the same with children too, this wasn't the first time some random child did a kind act to me, so I'm guessing I have a really tender spot in my heart for children like you do. :) Thanks for the time you gave for my post!

Awww, I bet that was such a sweet moment. You really cannot discount the fact that the innocence of kids doesn't fail to amuse us and gives us joy. Even though you're a total stranger, he doesn't discriminate. He still smiles at you and touches you, so trusting that I am sure nobody can resist the little kid's charm.

The power of children is amazing. They have the ability to make anything better. I'm a stay at home mom and my kids stress me out so bad some days but all it takes is for one or all 4 of them to come and give me a hug and sit on my lap and say "I love you mommy" for all of the aggravation to just melt away. Thank you for sharing this story. This really touched my heart =)

I'm glad you liked it... Thanks for the time you gave for reading it, it's quite lengthy. @_@ Wow, I wonder what it would be like to have kids of my own. :) Kids really do make everything feel better. They have their own little ways of cheering us up and taking all the bad feelings away with simple acts of love. :D

Being a mom is amazing. There's no way to describe what it's like to grow this tiny human inside of you for 9 months and then to watch them grow and learn new things and start to walk and talk. I love being a mom! =)

You know, that line you said about having a tiny human inside you made me want to experience having a baby.... ^_^ Whenever I see my cousins or the wives of my cousins pregnant, I can't help but want to have a baby of my own... however, I'm still a little too young for that. I wish to be able to have kids with the right person though! :D You sound like a very cool mom, by the way.. :)

Its true that we are bounded with busy and stressful life. We hardly get time for ourself. But there are many small things around us which can give smile in our face. Enjoying the cool wind in morning, looking at beautiful flowers, watching moon and stars at night, looking at butterflies, watching the small cute children playing etc.. Try it.. It will give you the relaxation for the whole day.. :)

I agree... Even such little things or small gestures can bring smiles to our faces and it only takes the right kind of appreciation for all these wonderful things around us. :D
