Yesterday I called my husband who was at a state park with friends and told him that the furnace was only blowing cold air. He immediately became condescending and told me to make sure the air conditioning was not on. Told him no and that the house was cold. It finally made it up to 63 degrees yesterday after I spent half the day baking. He finally got home, after going out to eat with friends, while I am at home with our toddler freezing, and sat down at the computer. Did not go look at the furnace until I nagged him about it. He finally found out what was wrong. the thermal coupling or something is busted. The hardware store opened at 8, it is currently 2 minutes to nine and he is still here. I have been running the stove in 15 minute increments to keep some warm air in the house. At this point, if he does not get it fixed, a heating/cooling company is not going to be able to look at it until tomorrow. If that is the case, I am staying in a hotel tonight.

That happened to me last year and I had to buy a new furnace.....so now I am toasty. It's been cold here too...in the 30's in the morning...today the high is supposed to be in the upper sixties...and to me that is cold after the summer we had...

It is working now, but I have such an open floor plan to my house that it takes a while for the main part of the house to heat up to the 69 we keep it at.

I wouldn't blame you for staying at a hotel tonight if he doesn't get off of his butt and go to the store. If it's something that he can do himself he should just do it and not waste money calling a technician, especially with a baby in the house. I turned the heat on for a little while this morning and it's 72 in my house and I'm still wearing a sweatshirt, so I can imagine how it must be for you. There's nothing worse than sitting in a cold house.

I am in my flannel pajamas, fleece robe, and heavy duty socks. My hands are still freezing. He did get up a few minutes ago and is down working on it. I know that he is not a morning person, but me shivering does not make me a happy camper.

I thought I had the solution, I would go spend the day at the library...no go. it is a national holiday and they are closed.
