A technique of not falling asleep...

Is to drink a glass of coffee and later a shot or two of alcohol.
I accidentally drank coffee and then alcohol one time and I was not able to sleep a wink that night. The only time I get to fall asleep was the next day's afternoon where I slept like a log.
My father also told me of this process when he went home from work. He's a seaman, by the way. He and his workmates, in order not to sleep while on duty, drinks coffee and a little bit of alcohol.
So now, I am watching what I am drinking or else I'll risk not being able to fall asleep again. It might be useful if I want to study late in the evening and want not to feel sleepy. But I discourage this because it messes with the body's functions.

Well, that's something. However, I see one little problem about the part of your overnight stay with friends... once your friends are asleep you're still going to be awake if the effect of the drink does not run out soon.

I my opinion, in some occupation people have to stay awake. They have to try their best to achieve this. But to tell the truth, always doing this does great harm to one's health. In other occupations, I think, people should go to sleep at the usual time. It's bad for one not to sleep regularly.

Indeed. Our body during sleep is being re-charged all the way. Once we mess of this, it can harm us very badly. And this I had to learn the hard way.

I got through school without keeping myself awake late to study. Our teacher once said that sleep is very important. When you study you should make sure you don't mess out on sleep or your brain wouldn't be functioning as well.

Any way thanks for sharing this wonderful piece of information. Anyway I would like to introduce this trick in myself, not at all the time but at some times when I need to awaken due to some reason.

I learned a longtime ago that If I drink coffee anytime about 2pm I will have a hardtime falling asleep. When I was in the Navy and had to do late night guard, coffee was my friend now if I drink too much, I get nervous and jittery.

Hi SinfulRose,
Wow, that is a good thing to know. I think I need that, although I don't drink much and don't keep reserves. Actually I never bought, I only drink when friends get some and that is very occasional but yeah, during examination yes I think I actually need to drink a bit, lol. Thanks on the info, i will keep it in mind and it is going to be handy when I need to stay awake late at night. I know it is going to mess up the schedule next day but a man's got to do what a man's got to do.

I'm going to try that out!! cool! I've got this Vodka sitting in my room and some cofee. Especially now that I'm busy with a lot of stuff that may require more hours of the day. Cool to know this.

If i drink coffee after like 5pm at night, I cant sleep at all. Doesnt matter what time I go to bed. So I stop drinking it around lunch time. Im hooked on coffee. Have been for many years.

I don't know if this idea would work on me, shots usually get me drowsy and sleepy and I know that coffee doesn't really have that much of an effect on me, I need a few cups to be able to stay up. Although I can't say I've tried the two together so maybe I'll try it out some time. Thanks for sharing your idea.
