I have few smoothies through the day..at times instead of lunch, I churn up an apple, some slices of a banana, few frozen organic berries and peach. I also add some flax and energy booster to it. It does keep me full for until evening snack time. However, is it a good thing to do so? I do work out 4 days a week

I think it's fair to say that if you have a good breakfast, then eating smoothies instead of lunch is fine. But if you are skipping breakfast and surviving on smoothies instead of lunch until dinner, then I can't see that as too healthy to say the least. Although fruit, and flax are very good for you indeed: yet, you are missing out on other necessary ingredients of a healthy meal: and energy booster doesn't sound good to me. On the other hand, if you are fit and healthy, and eating good meals for breakfast and dinner, it strikes me what you are doing is not so bad. Mind you, I can't talk, I skip breakfast; and often lunch too...preferring to snack during the day on bits and pieces until supper time. Also, I rely on the energy booster known as caffeine during the day, which is surely a lot less healthy than smoothies with energy booster.

Gee thanks! That is quite comforting. I do have milk/eggs for breakfast. Instead of rice/tortilla or a heavy lunch, I prefer smoothies with flax and protein powder(energy). Then, I eat a light snack for evening and an early light dinner, followed by a small bowl of fruit.

Your diet is highly healthy, I would not worry about the smoothies instead of lunch...:)

Sometimes I'll have a smoothie instead of a meal at lunch. They're very filling but sometimes I will get a small snack to go along with it. I'm sure it's not bad for you to do, as long as you're not skipping breakfast or dinner. Smoothies are very filling and I think they're ok to have for lunch.

If you make your own smoothie then I do think that it can replace a meal. When you're making your smoothie, think about whether you would think that the fruit on its own would be enough for a meal. If the answer is yes then you are okay and you should go for it. It is much better for you to make your own smoothies than to buy the ones that you can get from the shops because they always tend to add sugar to their drinks and this can mean that it isn't as healthy for you as the other ones that you could make yourself.

It can be more than enough if you also make them with milk or yogurt. How about diner? Do you eat a reasonable amount of food at diner? Snack time is not a good idea, but a good diner later is more than enough.
