As a Rush fan, I am shocked that it has taken this long for Rush to even receive a nomination, and I suspect that it is only because fans had the right to select the nominees for the first time ever. I am truly hopeful that Rush finally gets selected; on the other hand I kinda hope they turn it down. They have been slighted for so long, it would really send a message to the music industry about how subjective the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame really is. However, I guess in the long run I would like to see them take their rightful place as one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time. What do you think?

Yes, Rush is great live, aren't they? Even after all these years they still put on a phenomenal show. Let's hope they make it in--unless they choose not to be included!

Rock n' Roll hall of fame is a load of......!
If it wasn't bands like Rush or Deep Purple would have been nominated years ago.
At least years before some POP(!!!!) artists.

Indeed. I saw Heart was also in the running--I can't believe they haven't made it in yet either. Oh well, I guess my definition of rock and roll might be a little different than the people at the Hall of Fame. . .

The HoF is a strange entity. Online petitions, boycotting Rolling Stone and other tactics haven't worked for years. Rush was eligible in 1999. Unfortunately the pop invasion will get in at their 25 year mark. This explains Public Enemy.
Although it isn't fair, and we are thankful for Rush, there are many rock bands that continue to wait.

PS The only works the Hall acknowledged by Rush as being Hall-worthy was 2112.

I doubt it would send a message to the music industry. There's always another band.
BUT, I SOOOOO agree with you about RUSH being one of the greatest bands of all time!! I see them everytime they come to St. Louis. They have been one of my favorites since I was in High School 32 years ago!! Maybe they should have started the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a lot earlier!! LOL!!

I don't get to see them as often as I would like, but I am hoping in a couple of years to take my sons to see them too.
I agree that they should have started it earlier and should perhaps add more bands every year (or re-consider their criteria). There are many great rock bands that are still not inducted--for instance, I saw that Heart isn't in the hall of Fame either, and that's another great rock band.
