Melting Moments: why do they cost so much when they are SO easy to make?

Personally, I am not too fussed with melting moment biscuits. Sure, they taste alright but they are really crumbly and can make a mess. My partner and our boys LOVE melting moments. The only problem is is that they cost so much at the supermarket. They are nearly $5 for a packet of 6 large biscuits. Being large biscuits, they make a HUGE mess! I like to stick to a budget and cannot justify spending $5 on a packet of 6 melting moments. Not when I can make them for a whole lot cheaper, not to mention healthier. There isn't all that much that goes into melting moments. The hardest part about making them is creaming the butter so that there are no lumps ;) Here is the recipe that I use for Melting Moments. 1/2 cup butter 1/2 plain flour 1/2 corn flour 3 tablespoons of icing sugar Set the oven to 160C. Cream butter and icing sugar until there are no lumps. Sift flour and cornflour together in a separate bowl. Add to butter mixture and mix thoroughly. Spoon onto lined baking trays and flatten with the back of a fork. Bake for about 10 to 12 minutes. Leave on tray to cool for 2 minutes and then cool on a wire rack. Butter icing to join the biscuit together is easy to make too. Cream 4 tablespoons of butter with enough icing sugar to make a thick paste. Add 10 drops of vanilla essence and mix thoroughly. Join two biscuits together. YUMMO!

Thanks for the recipe. It seems not difficult to make at all. I am yet to get an oven, and I can't wait to bake some cakes and cookies together with my son. My son and I like to eat cakes and cookies, but it's so expensive buying them outside. I think making them ourselves is much cheaper, and as you said, much healthier too. Also, I think it's really a good activity to do with my son.

Fingers crossed that you get an oven soon. I would be totally lost without my oven lol! Have fun making melting moments with your son ;)
