My sister's computer currently unable to load up the Windows Vista, due to this error message "Bootmgr is missing", Press CTR+ATL+DEL to restart. Over and over again, it just give us headache. I search through google, some computer experts recommended to use the Windows Vista disc to do the system restore, but I tried it many times, it just won't work. Finally, I came to the last resort on my research, the wondershare liveboot software actually help boot the system to a temporary stored environment, but it only run on the disc every time I start up the computer. I am scratching my head, what can I do to fix this problem?

You have not change your booting sequence, when/if you need to do a system repair/OS repair, change the 1st boot cd/DVD.

Actually, I hit F10 to get into the boot menu, and switch to the CD/DVD as primary boot, initially, I have a XP disc in the DVD drive, but until it load all the files, it tells me that the hard drive was shut down for damage preventive caution. Is that mean that hard drive physically defective?

Oh dear, I remember experiencing this as well on my old laptop. I can't exactly remember what I did but I think I resorted to re-installing everything using the windows vista restore disks that came with my computer, well actually mine were burned to discs when I got my laptop, isn't it when you bought your laptop, there will be a utility that asks you to create a back-up. Anyway, some laptops come with the vista/windows 7 restoration disc. Also, if you can manage to boot it to safe mode by pressing F8 upon starting the computer, you might be able to do a system restore.

Take the disc out and restart it again. When the CTRL+ALT+DEL comes up, push F4 and hold it down until a gray screen comes up with some options, you can do a system restore from there. This only works when Windows has crashed though. If the system hasn't completely crashed it may not work. Your best option might be to have the hard drive cleaned off and re-install Windows. Hope this helps. Good Luck =)
