Google's horrifying at times

Google is really making life difficult with its algorithums playing spoilsport even with well-established sites. Then how difficult it will be for smaller and upcoming sites. Is Google really the only way to go about doing business on the net? Why isn't there any other option for Google's dominating nature? Many people have suffered, those too who were working honestly. Google should take into account such honest people too. What say?
