I am trying to lose weight at the moment, and have been very good at this so far. I have managed to lose over 115 pounds and I am very pleased with myself. However, one of the things that I am worried about is that when I want to maintain my weight I need to be able to eat more food than I am doing at the moment.
I am hoping to be able to find some healthy alternatives to the things that I am eating at the moment so that I can eat more without feeling as though I am having to deprive myself in order to maintain this weight.
Does anyone have any healthy alternatives?

Well, I think that the best thing that you can eat when you are trying to maintain your weight is to eat a lot of fresh vegetables. These are relatively low in calories and they do take a lot of time to digest so you have a tendency of staying full for longer. Another is to replace your milk with either skim milk or milk alternatives.
However, more than anything I think that eating what you would like to eat, but eat it in moderation.

I agree about the vegetable. One of the best things to eat during the winter months is a nice vegetable soup because of the fact that there aren't all that many calories in there but yet it can still be relatively filling for you. I have never really drunk full fat milk because I prefer the taste of semi skimmed milk so this has never been a problem for me. I can't really eat in moderation though; I am very much an all or nothing person. If I started eating chocolate then chances are I just wouldn't be able to stop and would have to eat more and more of it.

It can be just as annoying to be struggling to gain weight as it can be to be struggling to lose weight. At least if people want to lose weight they know that they can do so by adopting a healthier diet. The problem with people who want to lose weight is the fact that they actually have to make their bodies more unhealthy by gaining fat. You should just try and increase your portion sizes gradually as this means that you wouldn't really notice them changing but they would change enough to help you gain the weight that you need.

Congrats on the weight loss! That is outstanding. One little trick I use - I am bog on balanced meals, there has to be a meat, a vegetable and a starch. I started making much less of the starch and more of the veg. Now the veg is the biggest portion followed by the meat then just a little starch for taste. This helps alot. This way, I get the balanced meal, I get plenty to eat and I get my belly full.

I also think that it is good to be able to make more of a use of the vegetables than anything else. One of the great thing about vegetables is that there are hardly any calories in them which means that you can pile as many as you want onto your plate without having to worry about them. One of the things that is a struggle with people losing weight is the fact that they don't feel as though they're always able to eat, but at least if they choose to eat vegetables then they know they never have to be short of anything on their plate.

Good to know you have been successfully to lose that much weight , I dont think it was easy . You have manage to do it before so you are already on the right track . Try to avoid things that will make you put on weight like certain medication that causes hormone change . Drink glasses of water will increase your metabolism to burn calories faster , eat more fruits and vegetables for snacks . Look up dinner recipes with low calories .
Low fat milk
Low fat yogurt instead of ice cream
Rice instead of romen noodles
Light air pop corn instead of nuts
And when in doubt Read labels

I am not sure whether drinking more water increases your metabolism, but I do know that it is much better for you to drink this than anything else because of the fact that there are no calories in it. In fact, the only other thing that I drink other than water now is tea and I don't drink any more than two cups of this each day. I always take a water bottle around with me at all times and sip at it throughout the course of the day. I used to drink a lot of fizzy drinks and I know that I am a lot healthier since I stopped doing this.

Thanks for sharing this discussion. Glad to hear that u have been successfully able to loose some weight and i am sure u must be feeling more relaxed and confident now. But more importantly u have to maintain this weight for the long time by maintain a strict balanced diet and exercises so that u do not return back to your earlier shape. U can have fruit juices, natural green vegetables, protein supplements, etc that will act as best healthy alternatives.
What say?

I am definitely more confident since losing it, I don't even think that I am anything like the same person that I was when I first started losing the weight. I do know that keeping it off is going to be the hardest thing that I have done, but I honestly thing that the trick is to get into the habit of eating good foods and you should find that you are able to continue this when you are trying to maintain your weight. I know that I will be constantly monitoring my weight to make sure that I have not gained any of it back.

I have been tracking my food calories and the calories that I am burning off through exercise for over a year now, and I think that this is why I have managed to lose the weight. One of the things that is good is being able to know exactly how much you're going to be able to eat without having too much of an impact on your weight. I know that I will be able to eat around 1,800 calories on the days that I'm not doing exercise to be able to maintain my weight, and I will be able to eat more if I do any extra exercise during the course of that day.
