Tutoring a student from a foreign country.

I'm tutoring a student from another country. She really makes me realize how lucky we are to be able to have freedoms that in some countries, people don't have. Like freedom of religion. I like tutoring, but sometimes I wish I could get a grant or have a scholarship for students who have a hard time affording me or the economy would improve so that students could afford me. So what freedoms are you thankful for or wish you had (whatever the case may be)? What do you sometimes wish would happen so that people could afford to hire you, give you more business, give you more hours, larger orders, whatever you feel you need?

I have lots of different examples, but here is a for instance: Adult mentally disabled get their funding, both federal and state, based in part on how "disabled" they are. One of the tools they use is a tally sheet with thirteen "behaviors" on it. If I was charted on on this chart, I am as bad off as they are. Some things that get charted are "wandering or running away" which translates to "this adult person did not tell where he was going", runs between bathroom and bedroom in a towel=sexually inappropriate behavior. I wish people could get money they need because they need it, not from some check list that others judge them with.

Yes, some of those lists are ridiculous. Especially ones that list income, but don't take into consideration medical expenditures. Like they wanted to give my brother $10 in food stamps per month because of his income being close to the poverty line. He had high blood pressure, diabetes, all of which costs for all the stuff that goes with it and the Drs wanted to see him once a month because nothing was under control. So he had to tell the Drs. to forget it so he could by food. I thought they were supposed to deduct medical. Sexually inappropriate is running between the bathroom and the bedroom in a towel? Who dreamed that one up? At our ARC, the mens' side and thw womens' side for bedrooms and baths, they can't go to the other side on the second floor. At least they're wearing a towel. How disabled other brother was , I thought was determined by IQ and the questions the Drs. were asked about him. He has to prove he's still mentally retarded every few years. Like there's a cure for that. Like you can stop being 60 IQ after a few years.

That must be very satisfying to be helping this person. I wish I had more motivation so I could write my book, get it published and have the revenue from it to make our lives better. We could travel and I could do some things for my kids that I couldn't other wise.

Write that on a 3 x 5 card, what you want to do and why. Put it somewhere prominent in the house and every time you pass by it, read it. Soon you'll have it memorized and every time you see it, it will be a prompt. A friend of mine did that and eventaully, little by little, she worked a little each day and obtained her goal. Take care.

Yes, it is satisfying to help her. Frustrating at times, too. She's very good at English, but still, language barriers do arise. But usually not for long. I so want her to get her GED. She graduated in another country, but we don't honor that deploma, I guess.

That must be sort of frustrating and unfair. Hope all goes well.

I like the freedom that I enjoyed..but with freedom comes responsibility..This maybe out of topic but I wish people will be responsible for their freedom. I don't want that time will come that we will learn to appreciate freedom when we have lost it. I like the freedom of religion as well. The right to choose is one thing I also appreciated.. Hmmm... I'm not yet expensive to be hired....I still am working hard to make both ends meet. People still could afford me..Lol

I don't thinki it's off topic. I think that's part of the topic. I hope people appreciate freedom before we loose and it and don't have any, too. May they always be able to afford you and may you also be able to afford them, plumber, Drs. auto mechanics, whoever you need. Thanks for coming and answering my discussion. Take care.

I just discovered yesterday 2 more religions that I didn't know about and those are interesting me: the Wicca and the Scientology. I enjoy the freedom of religion in Israel and no one tells me what to do or how to do it. If I want, I don't have to follow many of the rules of my religion and I can make a research and study what I want. I wish I had the economical freedom so I won't have to work in job that I don't like to do but I need to do it for money. Many jobs today are too stressful and make us with no spare time, we can't live our life as we wish because everything seems to be preparation for the work and to take care of too many things. I'm don't have a job yet that people hire me for. I gave private lessons with the C programming language and it was expensive for the student to hire me because my boss charged a lot of money and he was just the one who pays my salary and the student paid him the money.

I hope you enjoy your learning about Wicca and Scientology. There are probably many people here who are from each one. We have similar as far as we can do what we want with religion here, but many people do try to tell us what to do, but we have the freedom to ignore them. I wished the same thing when I had a full time job. I cut my pay so this person could afford me, but I can't cut it much more. I have paper and print outs to provide. I bought GED books, gas, time, etc. Sounds like you're quite "the brain", C programming language instructor. Thanks for responding.
