Hello mylotters,
This is a very tough question in a very tough situation..
In life sometimes its unavoidable to commit mistakes and violating the law In a case that very one close to your heart(spouse,parent,children,siblings) has breached the law and she/he need to be prosecuted or punishable by law. And in that case he/she had to pay for what he had done.And only you can witness the situation.
Will you be able to point him out with regards to his mistake or you will just hide about it and let hide for it.
I will be grateful with all your views and opinions.

It's sad when that happens but I would have to do the right thing. I would first talk to them and encourage them to go to the authorities and straighten out things themselves. If they do that they may lessen the penalties. But if they didn't then I would have to inform the authorities. Doing so would be good for them as obviously there is something wrong with them to commit a crime and try to get away with it.

Imagine the violation is a grave thing like theft, corruption, murder etc. though it is done by our close people we have to advise the legal authorities to take action.

Tough love is just that- tough! If you hide out and let them do the same then you are not being a good role model. It is not always easy to do the right thing but it is worth while. If you don't your loved one doesn't learn anything and it all just gets that much worse and not better.

Ignorance of law is no excuse-- this is told because people will claim that they are not aware of laws. when this is the case violation of law is punishable. We should pray to God that he should give us the strength not to violate law. People violae normally in respect of income tax, property tax, excise duty etc.

Ignorance of law? I talking about how parents should be good role models. Had nothing to do with ignorance of the law.

@celticeagle,
I have think about that many times and I think its the right thing to do matter who violated the law it must be punished. And also as you have said we cannot be good model if we have to tolerate our love one in something they have to learn about.
Thanks for your response!
