Some movies just feel like they go on longer than they need to.

I just watched a movie last night called Stripes starring Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, and John Candy. It was really entertaining at first but it felt like it went on forever, like maybe it should have ended earlier in the movie. Has anyone ever seen a movie where they just felt it should have ended 30 minutes earlier?

" I want to be a lean , mean , fighting machine!" This is a classic comedy. To tell the truth I was laughing too much to notice how long the film was running. Maybe it is because it was made in the 80's it was that length. Just my guess.

I thought it was funny for the most part. Bill Murray is great. It may have been because I had just got off work and then I watched it. I work 2nds so I go into work at 3pm and don't get off till 11pm. I should probably give it another chance.

Welcome to Mylot! I haven't come across Stripes to be honest, I have an eclectic taste in films, from Horror to Sci Fi, Kids and Cartoons to Romance. I think I can only recollect one film that springs to mind that went on longer than it should but then I fell asleep, to me it was sooooo boring that just 20 minutes of it was enough to ensure I'd never watch it again. Brokeback Moutain. It wasn't my choice of movie either, anyhow I sat on the sofa to watch it and it was so damn boring. Mind you it's an ideal tool if I suffer with insomnia! Everyone raved about it at the time and I wondered what the interest was, there was none. It should have ended 90 minutes early not 30!

I've never seen brokeback mountain. It didn't seem like a movie that would appeal to me other than the fact that it had Jake Gyllenhaal in it. I'm pretty sure it involved two gay cowboys. That's all I needed to know. I don't see any problem with a movie like that other than I'm pretty sure it wouldn't hold my interest. I like sci-fi and horror. Fantasy is always a big favorite. I guess some movies can be good but not appeal to certain people. Maybe I didn't like Stripes that much because it was an army movie and I really don't watch anything with army themes to it. Even funny army movies. It just isn't a theme that I find entertaining.

This happens when a movie loses our interest. As long as it keeps out attention then we will be quite happy, but once it has become a little dull or boring we find that we are waiting for the end to arrive. I have watched some very long movies, but they have been enthralling and the time does not seem to matter. I have also become bored part way through some movies, and as you say they do seem to be almost never ending. The same scenario applies to all aspects of our lives, so if we are enjoying something then time appears to pass very quickly.

That's kind of how I felt about it. It was probably really good in the 80's. Bill Murray is one of my favorites but I haven't seen much of his old movies.

In most of films they put all this "coverage material" to spend our time. If the story misses the real conflict and true ending or thrilling one then the movie is only worth few minutes rather than hours.

Some Movies Are Like That. If There Is A Book To The Movie It Feels Like It Is Too Short.(Thats If You Read The Book Before You Watch The Movie.) And Others Are Just Very Long Becouse Some Scenes Takes Extra Time

For me it's Artificial Intelligence: AI. If the movie ended under water it would be perfect ending but really sad. But they had to ruin it with generic happy ending.
